Unfortunately there's a proliferation of them on our local highstreet. I work from home and went there this morning for a change of scene. They charge 6 quid for the first hour of internet access. Is that insane or am I just completely out of touch?

Go to Caffe Nero

Their coffee is much better and wi-fi is free

I do know what you mean, pruners. Perhaps not about the atmosphere but certainly about the extra space (which I guess they can afford). Aha, I've never tried eating my own food in a Starbucks or other cafe for that matter. Might arm myself with my laptop and a flapjack and do some local research!

Cheers, Norbert. I'm surprised they don't all have the same policy just for competitive reasons.

Actually, I just looked at the Nero site and it seems its something you might have to pay for after all

something to do with BT Openzone but I'm not sure what that is.

lol - about the lift music. OK, I feel a 'disappointed of North London' email coming on.

Fairtrade isn't all it's cracked up to be - they only permit co-operative farms to be fair trade certified, so family farms where the same family have farmed the land for generations are automatically disqualified
