To wonder what the point of tap dancing is?

My 2 DDs have started 'dancing' classes but the level of professionalism and outlay on dancing kit is not really proportionate (IMO)with the fact that they are just 2 little kids who want to go to a little dancing club. And tap dancing? WTF is that all about? Where do we even see tap dancing as a genuine form of entertainment? (apart from that irritating Vodaphone advert)...

You aren't convinced are you. Us "luvvies" will have to come one over and give you a good going over with our seqinned canes

seeker · 30/03/2009 18:49

I meant little girl's ballet. Not proper ballet!

Fairynufff · 30/03/2009 18:50

seeker I agree - all that "nice toes, naughty toes" nonsense!

Fairynufff · 30/03/2009 18:52

seeker - Oh God yes, I agree then, drippy AND dull. But then I find all children's 'performances' (school plays, nativity, songs, shows etc) "unremitting shite" - to quote Bob Geldof.

Yes ballet is not glamerous at all, especially once you start on blocks and you realise how much blood can come out your feet in once session and plasters become your best friend, same as tap - blisters on the balls of your feet uuugh.

screamingabdab · 30/03/2009 18:56

Gasp

I have two words for you.

Bad. Mother.

screamingabdab · 30/03/2009 18:56

sorry, that last one was to OP

Fairynufff · 30/03/2009 19:03

screamingabdab - if you add "fucker" then I'd be cool wouldn't I?

Fairy, I stared tap just after having dd2 and I am sure it cured my babybrain. Something to do with joining the left and right halves of the brain.
I'm sure it's good for children's brains- all that brain gym stuff they do at school is nuthin compared to four triple time steps and a break!

spudmasher · 30/03/2009 19:08

started.

ABetaDad · 30/03/2009 19:11

OMG! My Auntie and two cousins dressed in sequined top hats, sequined leotards, sequined tap shoes and fish nets with the SEQUINED CANES!

All three of them gurning together on black and white TV. Its all coming flooding back like a sort of ghastly flashback nightmare.

When she was little and did tap it was in her words "WELL boring" lol!

leosdad · 31/03/2009 13:21

agree with spudmasher it exercises your brain as well as legs, bums and tums
