My god, PMQs are going to be HILARIOUS.

LongGone · 30/03/2009 14:38

I wonder if they are taking the fall for their 15 year old son...

SusieDerkins · 30/03/2009 14:42

I thought that LoneGone but I think it would have been easier for them to blame their son (less embarrassing) and they would have done if they could. The fact that they didn't suggests that it was the husband.

Mind you, it doesn't really matter if it was the husband, the son or the cat - the public interest point is that fact that it was charged to the tax payer at all.

DreamingAboutSleep · 30/03/2009 14:44

YANBU, and the husbands "I'm sorry" speech was brilliant!! I only saw it this morning, you couldn't make it up could you!?

bleh · 30/03/2009 14:44

Who was it (Plato?) who said that if people want to be a ruler that was the first indication that they were TOTALLY wrong for the job? (brain fried by jetlag, sorry).

I think it is pretty rubbish that they get to employ family members as "staff". I have met people who work for researchers for MPs, and who are paid about GBP 8000 a year, whereas he's getting 40 Grand to watch porn and submit expenses: a travesty! I don't think you could get away with employing family members in the same way in the private sector

ScottishMummy · 30/03/2009 14:45

largely because she seems so damn scary.bet he got yelled at loudly

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 16:19

Yup, bet Jacqui wears the trousers in the Smith household.

BelleWatling · 30/03/2009 16:22

I think it is hilarious - she is constantly campaigning for more laws to restrict our privacy and monitor what we do at home. Hope she resigns.

MadreInglese · 30/03/2009 16:45

Oh I'm glad there are others who find it chuckleworthy

Yes, I have PMSL with this story too. Don't they know there is loads of free porn on the internet? He could have wanked himself off without costing the state a penny.

Hassled · 30/03/2009 16:53

I think it was probably the son, and the husband just failed to spot it on the bill (so should be sacked as her assistant for ineptitude alone). Because no one is really that stupid, are they?

But yes, if it was the husband, that would have been one hell of a domestic tiff to witness . She must have been apoplectic with rage.

LongGone · 30/03/2009 16:55

I think someone is teaching Jacqui a lesson about privacy and monitoring. It seems to be leak after leak...

ScottishMummy · 30/03/2009 17:24

maybe she doest put out.not so bothered her man views adult content.at least he has a pulse.

more concerned about repeated viewings of ocean13

and the bath plug, well that is mean spirited.probably cost more than that in administration and processing than the plug

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 30/03/2009 17:25

lol @ hand over fist...

ScottishMummy · 30/03/2009 17:26

was that the title of MrS viewing of choice?

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 17:28

Who said it was a bath plug?

If I were a Tory MP I'd really want to be lining up a question about the regulation of the porn industry for Wednesday...

ScottishMummy · 30/03/2009 17:31

LOL.the plug the hamshank, the erant hubby, the bolshie missus

you couldn't make this up

great hilarity factor, because she is such a right on suckass

Nighbynight · 30/03/2009 17:39

If you were a Tory MP, would you really, UQD??

UnquietDad · 30/03/2009 17:42

Something along the lines of "Does the PM share my concern that the pornography industry in this country is hideously unregulated, and does he perhaps share he concerns of his Home Secretary, who after all has a personal interest in these matters...?"

janegrey · 31/03/2009 08:43

According to yesterday's Guardian, hubby is now sleeping on the sofa - she's furious with him. Mind you, that's probably the sofa in their "second" home - the one he lives in with the kids while she rents a room in her sister's house.

And Yanbu finding it hilarious - despite the waste of taxpayers' money and the scandal that MPs are allowed to claim so much - it's raised some very childish giggles in our household too.
