To think M&S are really taking the pee with their sandwiches these days?

I'm not angry, but feel ripped off.

I had a dash to pick up the DC from nursery then get home and feed them before my aunt arrives to collect them for the night. I told them they could choose anything they wanted in M&S.

DD chose 'britains favourites' which on the outside looks good, three little rolls with different fillings. She's now crying as her 'chicken and salad' roll has one piece of chicken and a sliver of lettuce in it. The ham salad one is scraps of ham and a slice of tomato. The egg mayo one is a slice of boiled egg and a spreading of mayo. This cost me £3.80 ffs. She yelled for proper dinner and is now eating a bowl of olives and packet of pastrami.

DS chose a mango, crayfish and rice salad which is actually really tasty and cost less than the sandwiches.

the sushi is far more filling than a sandwich, so my children tell me

This is why I go to Greggs for my sarnies. they are the best! (Not being ironic..I really do)

i thought i'd pop into the local petrol shop that had an M&S express to pick up some sandwiches there, instead of at the playpark cafe, which I find to be expensive.
Cost me £8 something for two sandwiches that were not very good.
Should have eaten at the cafe.

They very rarely get to choose their own dinner, let alone it be 'meal on the grab'. I did expect it to be better.

What a waste of money, hovis and a tub of dairylea would have gone down better.

I was amazed to see they now sell jam sandwiches in there, for 75p!

What adult is going to buy one of those?

I agree though, their 'proper' sarnies have got very expensive.

Thunderduck · 27/03/2009 16:51

I love jam sandwiches.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 27/03/2009 16:53

Did you hear the PR behind that? Apparently it's to draw customers in with good old fashioned favourites.

Cos we are in a recession and everything.

Complain.

I took a sandwich back to morrisons the other week. It was supposed to be chicken and bacon. When i opened it it had no bacon 2 or 3 tiny bits of chicken a lump of lettuce and a manky slice of tomato.

The girl at the checkout offered to replace it or i could see the manager, i opted to see him, he laughed a lot at the rediculousness of the roll, apologised profusely refunded me and went and had another made especially. (I gave that one to DP, I was to worried about extra ingredients to eat it )

Tamarto · 27/03/2009 16:59

Please ignore the awful spelling in that post, and i did mean too

charitygirl · 27/03/2009 17:04

LOL (not meanly) at your DD crying because of miserly sarnie fillings. She sounds as greedy as me!

She may only be little but even she knows when she's been ripped off, hehe
