because I want a dark blue sofa and arm chair ?

Our sofa is completely knackered. We have had it 12 years, it owes us nothing, and I deserve a new one.

Now to fit in with our decor, I want a dark blue (might settle for dark emerald green at a push). I'm not into paying a huge amount for one (ds still at the bouncing on/clambering over stage, & we have 2 soppy dogs), so did the obvious, took a look st DFS, SCS and M&S to start with.

Well, nothing (utterly nothing) in those colours. It seems that unless we want beige, RED or black, I'm snookered.

Anyone know where I might find one?

I had a gorgeous navy cord habitat one for years which was really comfy and lovely looking.I think they still do it.

I got a dark navy suit from dfs, about 2 years ago, thought they did colour ranges?!

Get a Klippan sofa from Ikea. About £150. Can get a navy blue cover for £30 so when you get bored you can change it. Nothing earth shattering but it is comfortable and lasts and when the covers get wrecked (as ours do frequently by 3 cats and 2 small boys) they can be washed or simply replaced. result!

We had the navy cord Habitat one and I hated it! Was totally uncomfy. Maybe it was a different model.

Did you look at the colour swatches in DFS... they tend to have the trendiest colours on display but more available

susiey · 24/03/2009 17:35

have you tried sofs sofa they have loads of different colours?
put sofa sofa into google

our friends gor one from there a few years back and they said it was quite reasonable

southeastastra · 24/03/2009 17:39

had two navy habitat sofas, they were crap also impossible to keep nice and dark.

Stayingsunnygirl · 24/03/2009 17:42

Ikea also have the Ektorp range of sofas, and one of the covers you can get is dark blue piped in light blue. The covers are cotton and washable, and you can buy a second set.

We've just bought an Ektorp sofa and armchair for the conservatory, and they are very comfortable.

CrackopentheBaileys · 24/03/2009 17:46

agree with susiey. I got a navy blue corner sofa from Sofa Sofa a couple of years back. Dont be put off that they dont have a shop, the quality is great, it's the most comfortable sofa I've ever had!

weblette · 24/03/2009 18:10

Ikea Ektorp in blue as mentioned above is fantastic - we have the corner one.

noddyholder · 24/03/2009 18:17

only me voting for habitat then!

southeastastra · 24/03/2009 18:23

We got a lovely corner sofa in dark blue from sofa sofa a year or so ago.
We had the same problem as you... wanted blue to match our existing colour scheme, and just couldn't find a thing in the shops that wasn't brown or beige. THe only thing DFS could offer us was something custom made, which was waaaaaay over our budget.

We took a leap of faith with sofa sofa because the measurements fitted our space exactly, but obviously you have no idea other than the picture on the web. When it came it was perfect however. We love it.

But... I don't think it's unreasonable to expect shops to sell things in nice colours!!! Why does the whole world need to be beige?
