have just had a fucking parking ticket.

I went to aldi last monday, had to go to the bank in the town for money to use at aldi, then went shopping.

the car park is free for 1.30hrs.

I parked there for 1.40hrs

they have fined me £70 for parking 10mins over time.

and I went into the store.

fucking wanking bastards

...and has loads more spaces/designated P/C & disabled spaces.

I think that's an outrageous amount of money to charge for over parking by ten minutes and am and on your behalf, but......

What on earth are you all doing to spend more than 45 minutes in an aldi store? there really isn't that much choice to browse around for that long. Even if we do a biggish shop there we are over and done with in under an hour.

I'd get onto Watchdog as they have been doing lots on silly parking charges recently. There might be some stuff on their website about your rights. And I think that saying they will charge you more if you appeal is a load of old dog's dangly bits and sounds like they are trying to scare people off from doing it.

normal spend in aldi is £100+, and I have not done a small shop altho I cannot remember exactly.

I dropped all reciepts at my mothers care home yesterday when she attacked me and I don;t have any left now as I had a hissy fit when it turned out that she now has details for me (I didn;t pisk everything up as I tried to run from the crazy woman)

Is there the option to BUY a ticket of you are going to be longer than the designated free time? Our local Sainsbury's lets you park free for two hours, then buy a ticket to park for longer.

If so, you are definitely being unreasonable.

Very very annoying though, and I would be apopleptic over 70 quid if I were you.

I would demand to see the manager and tell him that you spend at least £100 a time in there.

We got one in Tesco's when were actually shopping for three hours, ie did the shop, had a coffee, changed the baby.
Wrote and complained, got nowhere.

With fines like that for overstaying it's cheaper to go to Waitrose, which is exactly what I will be doing in future

I do understand your pain! I parked in a private carpark that is divided from a car park I have a free parking sticker for by about 1 foot of low wall. They tried the 'if you complain we will charge more'
We sent them a snotty letter syaing I couldn't see the signs as they were 7 foot up a fucking tree (true) and I wasn't paying.
Heard nothing since.

Be aware that it won't be Aldi that did it, I had a ticket in tesco once when I had been parked for 20 minutes and had to find the little cabin hidden round the back where the private company they hire to watch car park lives.

This happens in our town at a couple of shops. B&Q for instance spy on you and if they see you leave the carpark on foot and not go into b&Q its a £90 fine.

One bloke in the paper went into b&q, bought stuff and put it in the car, then walked to Morrisons next door - was in there 10 minutes getting a couple of bits and got fined.

He thought he was being good not using the car for a 30sec journey and it cost him big time.
