To spend £8 on a Mother's Day gift for myself?

For Mother's Day today, DH very sweetly gave me my fave chocs from Hotel Chocolat...a little tray which costs about £2.50. However I had already said last week that I wanted to go to my favourite chocolate shop of all on M's Day - Montezuma's (eyes roll back, tongue hangs out to side, dribble, dribble, drooooool), so we all packed off down to the shop. I carefully picked out four small items, and spent £8. Afterwards I told DH how much I'd spent and he was genuinely shocked and went on for a wee while about how he thought I'd spent too much money.

Let me add here that this week he bought a bottle of Sancerre for some friends, costing about £10. Now, considering that I'd been joking beforehand about spending £20 I certainly didn't think £8 was a lot for a Mother's Day gift. If that's his attitude I think next year I should ask him for diamonds.

Had chocs last night...well worth the moral depravity!
