Dh has been away working all week.
Kids have been ok ish and its been fine, house under control etc.
Today though, kids been in grump all day. I've built up a big headache. I've thrown them both in bed early.
Just cant face doing anything.

AIBU to
not bother with dinner and just have cream crackers instead
leave the kitchen in its current state (not cleaned up from kids dinner, whole dishwasher worth of dirty plates etc ready to be loaded, general mess)
not tidy up any of the toys (currently all over lounge floor and slightly into the hall)
go to bed early and not wait up till DH due in from his flight (about midnight)

I just want to have a cuppa, look through my new Next catalogue, watch a bit of mindless tv and then go to bed....

Which ones can I get away with without being utterly unreasonable???

have a relaxing evening. Put it all off till tomorrow.

That's what friday nights are for imo

It's what I do!

And then I get dp and ds to help with a good clean and tidy on saturday.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 19:27

Friday night tidy routine: 1) shove toys in lounge and shut door; 2) shut kitchen door and ignore mess. All done!

Enjoy the rest...

TheGreatScootini · 20/03/2009 19:30

Tidy the toys.
Then leave the rest..that way you will assuage any guilt you might feel but it wont take long and you can sit down and re-lax

Grendle · 20/03/2009 19:47

Just clear up enough so that you can sort breakfast hygienically. Leave the toys!!

EdwardBear · 20/03/2009 19:49

I had pretty much just made up my mind to do that Grendle!
Am now going to chill with cuppa and Next catalogue and have a quick blast of kitchen after that!

I would load and run dishwasher so I didn't have to face dirty plates in morning. Other than that though - enjoy your night off.

I'd attend to anything like the dirty dishes and sod the rest.

divedaisy · 20/03/2009 19:56

EdwardBear - at the moment (7 months preg) a lot of my nights are just like that. Too tired to cook a 'proper meal' - ds gets school dinners so he can survive on toast or cereal! My sink usually is full of stuff to go into the dishwasher (unless I've found the energy earlier to empty it, in which case I fill it and stick it on.) DS is into Lego in a BIG way and it usually is thrown into a cardboard box when it comes to tidy up tiime. I then have to find the time to sort it out according to piece, and put into his Lego storage drawers.

It's nearly 8pm and I am going to be putting ds to bed in a mo - I'll be following behind him with a mug of tea and my James Patterson book. DH is working late and he can see himself in... but I'm knackered. I honestly can hardly keep my eyes open... night night xx

MrsMattie · 20/03/2009 19:58

Oh God, why are you even asking, woman? Have a night off! .

I do this at least once or twice a week. I just go 'Oh, I cannot be arsed', ignore the mess and get into bed with a cup of tea to watch programmes I've Sky-plussed/MN/read. It is so necessary sometimes.

Go for it.
