to be a bit, don't know if it's sad or frightened or pissed off by the assumption that i'm going to miscarry...

i'm 5 weeks pregnant. yes. i know. it's very early. it would be nice among the few people i've told if i hadn't had comments along the lines of 'fingers crossed for you', and 'let's hope it turns out ok' accompanied by [concerned face emoticon]

as i understand it I have a better than 80% chance of carrying this baby to term.

all i can now think about is miscarrying.

I've told people that i would want to know if something went wrong.

AIBU to have expected people to be happy and to assume that things would go right?

I have had 3 m/cs (so if I got pregnant again it would obviously be on my mind) but would NEVER say anything along the lines of the tactless comments you've received to someone who announced she was expecting. I think that's really nasty actually.

I have the opposite problem - I secretly feel irrationally irritated when people assume everything will be ok - I feel like they are jinxing me! Obviously I would never say anything to people, who are simply being positive and upbeat, and I know it is because of having had a mmc before DS - I think when you have experienced a m/c your whole perception of early pregnancy can be affected - and a lot of the joy and excitement is taken from it.

As you say, the odds are in your favour. Just ignore them, and focus on your positive feeling .

Congratulations overthemoon72

It's more about them than saying the right thing to you. MC does change your outlook on pregnancy but that shouldn't be used as a reason to put a downer on soemone elses good news.
