To think that wearing your boyfriend's shirt to work....

...is just a way of bragging about the fact you are having lots and lots of sex?

I'm not talking those cowboy shirts which are popular at the moment, or even a shirt worn as a kind of cardigan, but a normal, pinstripe men's cotton shirt of the type you would wear to a meeting or a job interview just worn as a huge shirt. With the front tied in a knot to exaggerate the fact it is a man's shirt and far too big and to make it look 'sexy'.

Maybe it's just me or maybe it's just the irritating woman I know who keeps wearing them, and the fact that she'll keep adjusting the collar and making comments like "oooh, this shirt is so uncomfortable, I don't know how [boyfriend] wears them!" and then keeps on wearing the sodding things anyway. I kind of feel we are meant to think that she is so busy getting fucked that she can't locate her own clothing.

I know IABU and a of course a tiny bit envious and yes I should have better things to worry about, but is it just me?

Oh come on, Nabster, the speculation and bitchiness is much more fun.

BitOfFun · 18/03/2009 12:57

Yeah Nabster, spoilsport

I second georgimama...so withering, that should shut her up!

Ivykaty44 · 18/03/2009 12:59

Ask her if all the hints are for a pay rise so she can buy her own clothes rather than wearing oversized charity shirts her bf has given her?

BalloonSlayer · 18/03/2009 13:01

roffffl at "I kind of feel we are meant to think that she is so busy getting fucked that she can't locate her own clothing."

Agree you could say in a loud foghorn voice:

"You mean you never take a change of CLOTHES to his house? Does that mean you're wearing dirty KNICKERS???"

DrNortherner · 18/03/2009 13:11

Does she know shirts knotted at the front is so, well,1980's?

What on earth does she wear with this hideous concoction?

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2009 13:13

she might not be wearing any knickers at all

troutpout · 18/03/2009 13:13

lol at Tee

Maveta · 18/03/2009 13:16

Wasn't wearing an oversized men's shirt tied in a knot at the front cool like - eons and eons ago? Or is it ok again a la 80s revival?

BitOfFun · 18/03/2009 13:30

Oh yes, I can imagine it now : "But I'm not wearing any knickers!"

Then you'll just want to punch her...

sarah76 · 18/03/2009 13:41

I find it really weird that she's bragging about it! The one time I borrowed some things of the boyfriend's, I walked around all day really self-conscious and hoping no one knew!

(and wearing his boxers was MOST uncomfortable)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 18/03/2009 13:48

PMSL at this thread

I like georgiemama's idea.

How old is this woman by the way, she sounds about 19!

Morloth · 18/03/2009 14:13

Does it count if you haven't done thw washing for a couple of weeks and they only clean thing available is husband's shirt? Or not so sexy then?

VinegarTitsCoveredinChocolate · 18/03/2009 14:21

Does she have a big 'def leppard' type perm to go with her 80's 'look'??

dillinger · 18/03/2009 14:39

pmsl at def leppard perm

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2009 14:45

"Holding on for a hero" is on the radio as I'm reading this

gagamama · 18/03/2009 15:16

For those who were wondering about her age, she actually celebrated her 29th birthday recently.

Her dress sense is distinctly variable. The shirts are usually combined with skinny jeans and trainers which is a look she doesn't quite carry off, not least because of the mixture of decades involved. She's not an unattractive lass but doesn't quite exude the effortlessly sexy, quirky style she seems to believe she does.

Gosh I feel like a bitch now. I have never especially warmed to the woman but I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt until proved otherwise.

This is the funniest thread I have read for a while . As tempting as it is to say anything I would ignore her. She sounds attention seeking and any comments from you, however funny will probably be taken as you being jealous of her. Silly woman.

BalloonSlayer · 18/03/2009 15:34

So is anyone else vaguely contemplating doing the school run in a man's shirt tied in a knot, looking tousled and tired and a little bit flushed...?

Just me then.

StealthPolarBear · 18/03/2009 15:38

No thanks, I'll just do the nursery run in the usual snot and dribble stained stuff as I always wear

PlumpRumpSoggyBaps · 18/03/2009 15:46

I do hope she has the (80's dress) sense to have the collar turned up?!

Also, I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that the trendiest way to wear your bf's shirts was as a dress, with belt?

Obviously you had to be size 8, no taller than 5'2" and have a really tall bf.....

Ooh. Or wear them to make pottery. P'raps THAT'S what she's been doing!

solidgoldbrass · 18/03/2009 15:49

FFS on the occasions when I had to do such a thing (been sick down my own clothes or something, or they had other, erm, emissions on) I would always borrow the most inconspicious thing I could find and not say a word (except to my two best mates at work who had a knack of knowing what I had been up to and quietly tormenting me all day...)

OrmIrian · 18/03/2009 16:49

I really think the best thing to do is to ignore her little demands for attention. Do no ...repeat ...do not ask her why she is wearing her bfs shirt. Don't feed her the line she is begging for. Just ignore or look up with a mildly irritating expression and say 'what?' and then get on with your work.

And then persuade as many of the other women in the office to wear their partners shirts tomorrow.

MrsFlittersnoop · 18/03/2009 17:37

I wonder if her BF is wearing her undercrackers to work
