To want feed my pets a certain brand of food?

I have been branded thick again by Dh. I'm not sure how he was going justify this as I put the phone down on him. I refuse to be labelled 'thick' by anyone. The only 'thick' thing that I have done is out up with him speaking to me this way for so long, but that is another thread.

It started when he wanted to go to Asda to buy a huge sack of cheap dog food . I told him that the puppy would be getting Hills Science Plan and that the cat would be going back on Science Plan again, like before I met him.

The cats looked so much healthier when they got 'proper' food. Even my vet agrees that it is much better food than Go Cat and the like, and £1 for lb works out cheaper.

No one is asking him to pay for it so I don't see the problem.

My DH would do the same.

I'm with you. I have no idea why he thinks your thick....

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/03/2009 17:20

I think because it's more expensive than the Asda Value dry stuff. He won't eat Asda value. Why should the dog.

It's cheaper than Pegigree Chum/Iams etc. I bet he would have no problem with me buying those brands but because they only sell it in large sacks the price is higher, but obviously you get more for your money.

my dh is the same, although I can understand it as he really doesnt like animals and I have quite a menagerie here.
my dog eats James welbeloved and thats about £50 odd quid for a bag that lasts about 3/4 weeks.

HecatesTwopenceworth · 17/03/2009 17:24

is he worried about the costs and the impact on the family budget, or is he just being a twat?

Kbear · 17/03/2009 17:25

Make your DH a nice pie made from ASDA value dog food and see how he gets on with that!!

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 17/03/2009 17:26

Could be the impact on the family budget, or he could be being a twat. Probably being a twat. If it was the family budget a better way of dicussing it might have been to say "Are you sure we can afford that? How much do you think it would cost?" as opposed to "Are you thick or something?"

oh don't get me wrong, even if it IS worry, it is inexcusable to call you thick! I just wondered if there was something behind it or not. (you see, that will determine if you chop both his bollocks off or just the one)

GHe is now on the phone to the pet shop to prove that it costs about £50. I'm not sure which pet food he has been looking at but it's not the same one as me.

Twat.

How did it end?

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 18/03/2009 08:11

I am with you, my cat REFUSES to eat anything other than the good stuff

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 18/03/2009 08:18

He found Hills online for 3/4 of the price I would normally pay for the size of bags he was looking at and bogof. He is over the moon. He can feed the dog for £40 for about 6 months.

stubborn cats? yup. me too. Mine will only eat those pouches. AND expects you to hold the cat flap open while she walks through it.

More fool us - we do!
