It was me, not the op who saw the purple jods - -it was on Saturday - town name W. The purple jodded one seemed to be in a massive hurry was it you?

FilledWithRage · 16/03/2009 17:58

Technically YABU, but I know where you are coming from.

alicecrail · 16/03/2009 17:59

No, it was sunday in waitrose in Newmarket, and i'm never hurrying that much must be lots of us purple jodphur wearers!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 16/03/2009 18:17

There's a woman at DD's school who always does the school run on jodphurs, normally purple ones.

minko · 16/03/2009 18:20

Funny title. YANBU in my opinion, as can totally relate, have seen 'em a couple of times in the local Waitrose. Oddly never in Tesco...

Scarletibis · 16/03/2009 18:32

I once spotted Emily Maitliss at Legoland - she was wearing jodphurs.

brimfull · 16/03/2009 19:08

lol at the people taking umbrage at this thread- we're watching you !!

Svalbardy · 16/03/2009 20:03

what is it with jodhpurs in this country... what's wrong with a pair of jeans or tracky dacks when out riding, fgs? it's not like you're doing a flippin' 3 day event with Princess Anne every time you get on a nag...

(sorry... all the poncey matching kit on comedy shite rowers, where I live, really gets up my nose... too busy bristling at that to notice if the little darlings have changed into their jodhs before going to lectures.... )

pointydog · 16/03/2009 20:12

are we talking about proper jodphurs that have been ridden in or fashion jodphurs?

Quattrocento · 16/03/2009 20:18

Twat away if it pleases you

Must say I haven't seen anyone in jodhs in my supermarket. And it's not because I shop in Asda. Where are these riders then? Do they hitch the 'osses to a trolley outside?

brimfull · 16/03/2009 21:11

rofl quattro-
I think waitrose should definitely put some hitching posts outside the shop!!
I am in new forest btw

Svalbardy, I hate riding in jeans, the stirrup leathers pinch my legs and make bruises and little red broken veins, the seams are always in an awkward place and the pockets etc can rub and damage the saddle over time. Tracksuit bottoms look terrible and anyone but the superfit which unfortunately I'm not. It's got nothing to do with 'looking the part', it's just practical and comfortable.

Pixel · 16/03/2009 23:25

That should be on anyone but the superfit.

Rollmops · 17/03/2009 10:02

Given their boots weren't covered in manure,YABU.
What's wrong with jodhpurs?
People waltz around covered in dog-cat-(add favourite furry thing here), all day long, I find it rather appalling but won't expect them to be banned from supermarket.
Waitrose is the only decent supermarket anyway [sniffs]

cheesesarnie · 17/03/2009 10:03

lol

please say they had riding hats on too!

Rollmops · 17/03/2009 10:08

..dog-cat etc- HAIR even....

Riding in jeans, oh ban the very thought!!!! [shivers in horror]. So uncomfortable, the inseams get bunched up and rub you raw.
Wearing jodhs as a fashion article without ever planning to actually ride in the is sad beyond anything [yukk]

FairLadyRantALot · 17/03/2009 13:53

ouch...riding in jeans is a baaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddd idea indeed, rollmops....so, never going to that again....all I can say is...me poor fanjo....[shudder]

OrmIrian · 17/03/2009 13:54

I took DD to Sainsbury with me in her jodhpurs last week. Is that OK?

Haribosmummy · 17/03/2009 14:22

haha!! Our Waitrose is the same. But, I have to say, people in Joddies don't really bother me one way or the other!
