I'm having a dishwasher delivered I have had a letter to say delivery time will be anytime between 7.30am and 6pm.

AIBU to expect them to narrow this down to either am/pm? Do they really think people can sit around for ten and a half hours waiting for something to be delivered?

I think if you had a go at the delivery company, you would just be wasting your time, take it up with the supplier rather.

frumpygrumpy · 12/03/2009 12:41

Give them a call, am or pm is reasonable. Loads of places now take a mobile number and phone to give 30mins notice of arrival which is magic if you need to just squeeze in a school run.

frumpygrumpy · 12/03/2009 12:42

Alternatively, sit on your bum with a pile of DVD's and trash mags and 3 packets of KitKats like a lazy slattern and just wait the 10.5hours Go on! Treat yourself

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 12/03/2009 12:42

Sometimes they won't tell you until the day. It's usually worth calling in the morning as then they know which van it's being put on.

ConnorTraceptive · 12/03/2009 12:45

The supplier is the one who sent the letter so that is who i'll ring.

If it were me on my own I would indeed slob on the sofa (but it would have to be jaffa cakes not kit kats) but I will need to go out to do school run and pick up.

This is quite normal unfortunately.

frumpygrumpy · 12/03/2009 12:47

It is a pain in the tits and the delivery men can often be so lovely..........if its just a nip out, you could leave your mobile number taped to the door. I've done that.

BouncingTurtle · 12/03/2009 12:52

Seems normal to me. Sometimes you can specify am or pm delivery but generally you have to pay extra for that service.

ConnorTraceptive · 12/03/2009 12:58

See, I've always been given am/pm slots and had companies ring on the day but thought this whole make you wait in all day type of thing was a thing of the past.

Connor - LOL, no he'd still be waiting for the shuttle to turn up.

Unfortunately it is still the norm - fecking frustrating though. It's worth ringing, you might get someone with half a brain that can help you, or you might be posting tomorrow about the 'Press 1 to re-direct your delivery... Press 1,990,999 to speak to a real person.... beep beep beep' message you are more likely to get!!

Can you tell I'm hugely frustrated with delivery companies
