hi i split with my daughter father when she was around 6 months old because he was v violent towards me and had issues with drink and drugs
he stopped having contact with my daughter until i meet my now husband when my baby was 15 months old we agreed on supervised contact at his parents house this didnt work out and ended up with court procedings.

which got dropped because my ex didnt turn
over a year later we are going back to court and cafcass are involed
we are currently having my ex drink and drug ttested
has anyone had anything simular happen to themselfs and do these test really work

i know this sounds silly do they work im just worried about the effect this could have on my daughter is now 3

The drug test are very accurate - they can tell how much, when and how heavy his usage has been over the previous how many months (depends on how long his hair is!!)

I believe that if ex has turned his life around then there is a chance of contact ebing re instated but this would be done very slowly - with indirect, supervised, unsupervised

But indirect contact for a 3 year old is not much use i would have thought as the child is not really going to understand.

Drug tests are pretty accurate, the test the hair as I understand. Not sure how they would test for drink though maybe breath test or liver function?
Why didnt the contact at his parents work out? Supervised contact at a contact centre would have been better I think.
As racmac said indirect contact would be lost on a 3 year old.
The courts generally like to start off with supervised contact for a few hours and then build that up if its going well.
The courts will also take into account you ex's past conduct and should exercise some caution.
