to delete someone from facebook/ignore them in the playground because I am sick of hearing about their pregnancy?

have a friend who is about 24 weeks pg with her 4th child and she is doing my head in.

Now don't get me wrong, pregnancy is very exciting, but she talks about it to the exclusion of everything else. So if you ask how she is she'll say "am fine, bump is moving/am x weeks/x days today," every time. her status on facebook always reads something like "x is loving being pregnant so much/x is 20 weeks today/x loves my children even more because they keep hugging the bump," ...

She bought a doppler and took it to a party at friend's house and got it out and asked if everyone wanted to hear the heartbeat.

And when she told her ds that he could tell all his friends she became quite irate with some of them when they didn't get all excited (these are 7 yo boys, they're hardly going to be excited about their friend's mum expecting a baby in 6 months time as was then).

Am happy for her obviously, am just sick of hearing about it.

She sounds a bit, um, special - and incredibly annoying - but it won't last forever. Next time she starts describing her mucus plug or whatever, just smile, breathe, and go to that little happy place in the corner of your mind.

I'm sure i was the same with my first pg but at no 3 i defintely wasnt dictating my gestation to all and sundry!

Next time you are in the playground just say "la la la i cant hear you" in your head, grin and bear it

Geez, this'll be me one day - my friend list will dwindle! But she may have had a rough road getting pregnant etc., you just don't know. If the status updates annoy you, block them.

MrsMerryHenry · 11/03/2009 23:43

Wannabe, why not just mention how you feel in passing? She won't be pg forever.

Maybe she is making such a huge thing of this because she knows it is her last - maybe be a bit more compassionate.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/03/2009 11:56

YABU. Bloody hell let her enjoy her pregnancy. She is not gushing about it purely to annoy you. There are probably loads of her FB friends who are genuinely interested and like the updates.

I would love to be pregnant again, I remember it as being a wonderful time.

What a mentalist.

I have a work colleague who does nothing but bang on about her 5 year old daughter. The worst of it is that because her desk is near mine, I have to listen to the same frickin' stories about this child (who is admittedly a lovely girl) again and again.

I am determined not be a baby bore when mine arrives but we'll see ...

mrsgboring · 12/03/2009 12:02

YABU about the Facebook updates - the site is all about navel gazing and if your navel is currently doing something rather interesting, well so much the better, I suppose. (That said, I'm pg and there is nary a mention of it on my FB page...)

In the playground and social situations, definitely YANBU. She sounds like a total loon and also very boring.

oh god this has made me paranoid as I am 38 weeks preg and have probably too often put pregnancy related updates on facebook. or things about my DS. the thing is, it's so trivial and people put stuff on their status all the time like 'so and so can't decide whether to watch casualty or not' or whatever, so I thought it was a safe place to be trivial and put pregnancy type status updates. now I'm scared, probably all my friends hate me and are complaining about it! yikes!
