neighbours cutting down tree.

The garden that backs on to mine has a massive tree in it (taller than the house) they have a tree surgeon in at the moment trimming it and most of what they are cutting down seems to be finding its way into my garden. the tree doesn't hang over my garden and the branches they are cutting are about 6foot long, just been out to ask if they will be clearing up the branches and they have told me no because they are in my garden! aibu or does this take the p**s?

Ooh! You're brave!!

wotulookinat · 05/03/2009 13:26

gosh you're braver than me - let us know how it goes.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 05/03/2009 13:41

Ooh, go for it Nancy. We are all hiding behind you

Helen31 · 05/03/2009 13:43

What charming neighbours you have. Simple fact is, their tree, their property. If you don't return the branches onto their property you are stealing them.

Helen31 · 05/03/2009 13:44

Sorry, posted before updating. You go girl! I'm SW London, else I could have been hiding behind you in rl too!

janinlondon · 05/03/2009 13:51

Is it at all possible that it is a council property and they are actually the council tree people, that the neighbour didn't want the tree lopped in the first place, and they are forcing the issue? I know this happened with one of our neighbours.

clam · 05/03/2009 14:35

Ooh dear. If Nancy doesn't return soon, at what point do we go to check that she hasn't been sawn into small pieces and chucked back over the fence?

DesperateHousewifeToo · 05/03/2009 14:37

Perhaps she is using one of the branches for a placard and marching up and down the street

nancy75 · 05/03/2009 14:39

lol, im back, my dad just popped round (he is quite big and scarey!) they will be clearing the branches after all.

Arrgh!

Well done Nancy!

But why is it always the case that certain things go your way if you can produce a large intimidating man? Grrr!!!

nancy75 · 05/03/2009 14:44

i know, funny how polite they were to him

Yay! Thanks Dad!

But shame they couldn't just be decent human beings about it.

DesperateHousewifeToo · 05/03/2009 15:13

What idiots they are.

You won't be recommending them to anyone now will you?

Keep an eye on them though and make sure they clear every leaf, lol.

wotulookinat · 05/03/2009 16:16

I think you should name and shame them on here, so when people look up the company on the net, they will get a link to this thread.

ABetaDad · 05/03/2009 16:24

Throw the branches back over the hedge/fence.

The branches are in fact your neigbours property and in law if you had cut the overhanging branches (which youare entitled to do) you would have been obliged to offer the wood to them.

TAKE PHOTOS BEFORE YOU THROW THEM BACK.

ABetaDad · 05/03/2009 16:25

Oh I see you got the result. Well done!

badgermonkey · 05/03/2009 19:54

When our next-door neighbour cut down a tree, he threw the branches over on purpose because we have an open fire . Kept us in logs for months, that did.
