to think that if MN delete a thread, they should tell us why

I was following 'I did something silly now I am in big trouble' on legal/money but it has disappeared.
Did OP ask for it to be deleted? Was she outed as a troll? Has she been busted by the police? I need to know!

I tried to pick up this convo from my history but got a 'sorry, I can't find that thread message'. Imagine how demented I would get trying to find this no-longer-existant thread by trawling through topics.

If MN delete a thread, shouldn't they leave a stub so we can find it and a quick explanation of why they deleted it.

Oh was that deleted? Good job too - it was never going to end well!

It was about a woman who had nicked some money. Was all very unsavoury. And after a while the story was clearly nonsense.

purits · 04/03/2009 23:19

OP sold a car on behalf of a newly-widowed family member and was a little tardy in passing the proceeds on to said family member. The police were called (allegedly). Lots of yeahbutnobut.

I called troll for the first time ever and then posted my first AIBU.

Well I only saw it earlier today - but the bit I saw featured a name changer whose uncle died. Aunt gave her uncle's car to sell on aunt's behalf - which the op did. They then kept/stole/failed to pass on the proceeds and used it for their rent. They kept in touch with aunt until Christmas I think when they stopped and now the police (called by aunt's daughter) have turned up and it's all got rather sacry - for the op at least. So plenty of posters were pointing out the error of her ways and there was some question I think about her situation and also the police seemed to have implemented some sort of payment plan - but it all looked very odd and that was then the end of my lunchbreak at work and I know no more - but like I say it was NEVER going to end prettily!

I reported a different thread to MN last night even though the OP had said she had already done so. The thread was deleted and the email I got from MN said that the OP should have emailed their suspicions to MN rather than start a thread about a 't'. It wasn't the thread you are refering to but having read that I'm not surprised that one has disappeared too!

Northernlurker · 04/03/2009 23:21

Ahem - and I obviously paid far too much attention to the details

MollieO · 04/03/2009 23:28

I posted querying whether the widow even had authority to sell the car - it would have formed part of uncle's estate for probate purposes so I think not. Legally pretty messy so no wonder it disappeared!

AnnVan · 04/03/2009 23:31

The op of that thread asked for it to be deleted.
Apparently the aunt stopped talking to her before the car was sold, then aunt's daughter called the police.

purits · 04/03/2009 23:38

Thanks AV.

Forgot to explain that bit to Reality: auntie was Russian and didn't have good English language skills so asked OP to sell the car. Couldn't ask her own daughter (step-daughter of OP's uncle, are you still with us?) to do it because didn't trust her because she was annoyed that she was cut out of the will.

Northernlurker · 04/03/2009 23:40

indeed - sounds like the Russian aunt couldn't trust her niece either!

TheLadyEvenstar · 04/03/2009 23:54

from having spoken to the OP online, I can only say she has asked for it to be deleted. I believe she is genuine as she has been on the phone to me today and explained it all.

all i know is the step daughter is the sister of her uncles daughter not the wife if i got it right lol. from what i understand her uncle had a relationship with a woman who had a daughter already and had a daughter with her...hence the other one being the step daughter. and apparently it was this step daughter who contacted the police and said they would accept weekly payments until it is paid off....or something like that.

I am not going to mention this to her as I am sure she feels pretty crap anyway, she was upset and did sound remorseful on the phone....

TheLadyEvenstar · 04/03/2009 23:55

ooppss should have said and on the phone lol...teach me to concentrate when i am typing and not keep looking at emails, the tv and the baby.
