If something vaguely irritating or annoying happens I think and/or comment to dh if around "that would make a good aibu thread". If something funny or anecdotal happens I think I must post that on chat. If my kids have behavioural issues I post on that! I used to restrict my mn fix to the evenings only when the kids are in bed. Now I find getting the laptop down when ds2 is having a nap when I should be doing other things especially if ds1 is at preschool. I tell dh (if around he works shifts and often around on weekdays) I'm just got to check my emails won't be a minute. Dh thinks this is so sad and I should get a life! So aibu? Am I alone is there a cure and should I seet help?

I totally agree with everyone haven't posted sooner as Ihave several threads on the go at once. (Hope I'mposting on the correct one!) Dh has been to a territorial army meeting tonight. Dh has come home to me on the laptop in the front room but the front room in uproar us toys not tidied and ds2s bottle in kitchen unrinsed! He is still in army mode and not impressed!

Have never posted before - and now very scared.. Do I start or be content in a life without MN?

ShellingPeas · 03/03/2009 22:16

What is a snurk? Is it like a smirk but subtley different?

I waste spend so much time lurking on here, but I've never really worked it out.

Sails · 03/03/2009 22:18

Leave now to start is where madness lies!

Mad already - can't get any worse!!

BitOfFun · 03/03/2009 22:22

Snurk is a marvellous word- it is a sound somewhere between a and a ...in my imagination anyway!

ABetaDad · 03/03/2009 22:28

I like looking at MN as well as political and economics, news, health and other blogs throughout the day. I do it to ease the boredom of continuously looking at financial market stuff all day.

It is hard to get a sense of real humanity in financial markets. It is a zero sum game. I win you lose. I only ever interact with computers in my work.

MN is nice because at least there are some real human beings on here who care about each other and their kids. I still do get stuff done though.

Thanks to all Mumsnetters - for keeping me sane.

ShellingPeas · 03/03/2009 22:30

Oh how nice ABetaDad. Do you snurk on occasion?

BitOfFun · 03/03/2009 22:31

Are you quite sure you are, ABetaDad? ...

Im addicted

I read more threads than i post in but maybe thats because im a little nosy

I often call my dp into the room to get his opinion on some subjects and as soon as i call him he sighs and says dont tell me another MN thread you want to read to me

I to have also said LOL in RL

Funniest ever moment was while out shopping with dp and our 2dd's they were both tired and grumpy and really wanted a drink so dp went off to buy them one and came bk with 2 fruit shoots and before handing them to the girls i actually checked around to see if anyone was watching shaking their heads and tutting dp started laughing n asked if i was checking for MN he knows me so well i didnt have to tell him

MumGoneCrazy · 03/03/2009 22:36

meant MNers in last line

Sails · 03/03/2009 22:40

I call dh dh at times and have referred to my dc as ds1 and ds2! Mind you I think that I might be bringing up ds1 as a peppa pig addict as he calls dh and myself mummy pig and daddy pig, little brother George and himself as Peppa pig! His gp are granny Pig and grandpa Pig!

Mn keeps me sane in this mad mad world.

Also provides entertainment.

Abetadad how's the school gates situation, still running from 4 x 4's

ABetaDad · 03/03/2009 22:41

I do snurk quite a bit - but I have to admit I gasp a lot and also retch a fair bit at some of the things I see.

Recent telephone conversation with friend:

Me- oh I won some lovely clothes for dd recently
Her- oh wow, that sounds great, where from?
Me- mumsnet (explains what mumsnet is)

(later, same telephone conversation)

Her- my DD refuses to eat, it's driving me mad
Me- reading bits out of the latest MN book to toddlers to her over the phone
Her- this stuff is great, where's it from?
Me- (slightly sheepish) Mumsnet

(later)
Her- see you at the weekend?
Me- no, we're going away on holiday
her- oh where to
me- explains
her- that sounds great, where'd you hear about that?
me- Mumsnet

and on it goes...

This is a true coversation

Know what you mean, but I couldn't phone a RL friend for entertainment at this time of night!!

Marthasmama · 06/03/2009 08:32

Abetadad.... Is your name based on alpha/beta factors if you're in the financial world?
