to drag DD out of bed on a Saturday night?

We've been invited out to dinner with friends on Saturday and have the choice of either a) booking a babysitter from an agency that DD (aged 13 months)does not know (no-one else she knows is available) or b)taking DD with us to dinner, putting her to sleep in a travel cot, and then waking her up to put her into a buggy to take her home. We live about 7 mins walk from our friends.

Thoughts? DD doesn't usually wake up in the evening, so would a babysitter be the better bet? And does anyone have experience of how their DC did react when they woke up and found themselves at the mercy of a strange sitter....?

take her and then bring her home - far easier x

rubyslippers · 03/03/2009 18:25

i would take her with you

Take her with you, then if she doesn't settle at least you're there and she won't freak out.

Take her with you. Put her to sleep in a travel grobag and then plonk her in the buggy for trip home with rain cover over the top - she will hardly notice the change!

when i only had one ds i used to take him out all the time to friends houses for dinner. pushchair went completely flat so didn't even bother with the travel cot and he slept in that. used to walk until he fell asleep with a blanket over the pushchair to make it dark. he never used to wake up at all, not even when transferred to his bed.
he is there with you so no worries and you save the cost of the babysitter.

Take her - she'll barely notice the return journey, IME

Sounds pretty unanimous - think I'll take your advice; thanks folks x
