i don't see the problem, they would be very well trained, they hardly kill anyone each year, cars kill more people than lions and crocdiles put together, and the children could take them for a walk on the lead or if the parents had a problem with it, i could put the lion and the crocdile behind the baby gate. anyone who disagrees is hysterical, neurotic, and ill informed.

YABU

The croc should be in the bath to encourage quick usage of the potty/toilet.

PSCMUM · 27/02/2009 21:07

totally agree. so in fact croc is child development asset as helps with efficient toilet training

It would be cruel and unnatural.

Lions are social animals and need to be kept in groups. You must club together with your neighbours to have a pride of lions and give them the run of the street.

You will also find the croc outgrows the kitchen sink quite fast on a diet of pre-schoolers, so you need an outdoor pond for it.

PSCMUM · 27/02/2009 21:11

i'll have to put up my CM fees then, to afford the pool, but with the aded attraction of the croc-potty-training-asset-special-offer, I am sure the parents will cough up.
also am sure neighbours will be completely up for the pride of lions, many of them have small babies and will immediately see the advantages of their babies being able to go on lion rides down to the 24 hour shop.

YANBU. Children today are far too mollycoddled. When I was young, we thought nothing of walking to school through a pit full of rattlesnakes (in the front garden). Kids need to learn independence.

exactly, well the making of me was actually having swimming lessons with sharks in the local paddling pool. their fins used to tickle my nose a bit, so as a two year old i just used to bonk them on the nose, they took it really well and just swam off giggling. its given me a life long love of the sea.

dear pscmum, i am quite interested in sending my dd to your lovely place of childminding, however i feel the "animal experience" you have on offer is a little tame. i would like dd to experince lots of different dangers and would definately send her if you would consider getting a fire breathing dragon maybe?
obviously i would be willing to pay more for this service

PSCMUM · 27/02/2009 21:37

well nancy 75, we are hoping to roll out both our fire breathing dragon for pre-schollers and white-water-rafting-with-piranha-experience for newborns soon. we rae just waiting for ofsted to approve our CRB check and then we will be opening up. I will put you on our mailing list.

PMSL - if you could use the crocodile to get my 3 year old to eat quicker then I'll double your fee

(KerryMumbles) - believe ASDA are offering a special deal on 'a sense of humour' this weekend....

LynetteScavo · 27/02/2009 22:12

Why on earth do you keep a crocodile in the sink?

We keep our in the paddling pool, apart from when it's very cold, when we put him in the bath.

I wouldn't have a problem with a CM having these pets, but I think Ofsted might.

onepieceofcremeegg · 27/02/2009 22:17

It would add a whole new dimension to various songs and games.

Sleeping lions anyone? Or that crocodile rhyme "hey Mr crocodile you can't catch me...SNAP went the crocodile, 4 mindees for my tea"

BalloonSlayer · 28/02/2009 09:21

ROFL

What about:

"IF you see a croc-o-dile
Don't forget to tell-Mummy-about-what-a-stimulating-and-educational-nature-experience-you-had-todaaaaaay!"

lou031205 · 28/02/2009 09:55

Ahh a thread about a thread about a thread.....

MaureenMLove · 28/02/2009 10:00

Bad form doesn't even begin to descibe it Kerry.

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 11:54

I agree, there have been a run of piss take threads lately and it is not on and against the ethos of mumsnet.

LynetteScavo · 28/02/2009 12:36

Is this thread a piss take?

SimpleAsABC · 28/02/2009 12:39

I think it was an attempt at humour. Surely people can't be blamed for trying to have a bit of fun?

MaureenMLove · 28/02/2009 12:46

Maybe it's because I'm rather friendly with the CM involved, that I'm a little upset by it, but actually she was quite hurt by her parents. Right or wrong on the dog front(and she fully appreciated peoples comments on here) I just think this is hurtful and unnecessary.

I agree, a little bit of humour is fun and makes an otherwise dull evening a bit more fun. Lets face it, given the choice, I'm sure we'd all rather be doing something with rl people on a Friday night, rather than talking to the internet on our own!

purepurple · 28/02/2009 12:46

against the ethos of mumsnet?

give me strength!

twinsetandpearls · 28/02/2009 12:54

I agree Maureen. It is not as if Shoshe started a thread and refused to hear the opposite view.

I cant find it now but there was something in the mumsnet ethos about not starting threads about threads.

I generally find purepurple that it does take more strength to be nice to people.

belgo · 28/02/2009 12:56

a crocodile in the paddling pool? Don't be silly, it's claws will burst it! Even our rabbit ate a hole in the paddling pool.

Keep it in the jacuzzi.

purepurple · 28/02/2009 12:58

maybe I'm just not a "nice" person, then

but it is just a forum on the net, in the great scheme of things, not that important really
