We are on a tight budget at the moment and it is from Monsoon and in good condition.
I just feel like I am selling her short. I got new everything else.

Er, wrong thread. As you were.

U are so nbu.

All that matters is that she's loved, is happy, and of course looks fab! No one should be judged as a parent based on how much they spend (all though a lot of people think that's important). And if the clothes have been "previously enjoyed" well, so what. Have a great day, and spend the extra money on champagne.

You are being very environmentally friendly, which is a damn sight more in your child's interests than spending money you really, really don't need to. You're also modelling good financial management. If someone wants to buy the exact same item, also tried on by several kids, over one that's been worn once for a couple of hours, and is willing to pay two or three times the price, then fair play to them, absolutely. But I think your decision's the smarter one.

Anyway, it's not second-hand, it's vintage.;)

I got DS an adorable silk romper for his Christening from eBay. It was a John Lewis one and was immaculate, I paid a fiver for it inc. delivery and everyone commented on how fab he looked.

Don't worry about it, I am sure she'll look great, and it's only you who knows it's not brand new after all!

duchesse · 27/02/2009 13:31

Good grief no! If you are on a budget and can get something nice at a fraction of the price, good on you. It's not as though christening items get much wear anyway...

I think the first thing to ask yourself is -do you like the fress? If so then you're fine. Ds 2 has all Monsoon cardi's from ebay and people constantly comment on his lovely cardi's. I like them as being cardi's I don't have to fit them over his large head, are all natural fibres and lovely little boys patterns rather than union jacks and football all the time.

Being good quality they wash brillinatly and will do ds 3. (Some went trough ds 1 as well.)

It's vintage!
That's what I call all my "not quite new" clothes, and the ones I have bought for DS from ebay!!

YANBU- I buy the dd's clothes off e-bay, i'm bidding on some boden trousers for dd1 at the mo, i can't afford boden prices so i use e-bay
