. . . should either stay away from the teen section or accept that their contributions are unwittingly hilarious at best or downright insulting at worst?

I think that as it is a public site anyone should be free to give an opinion. There are several threads where as soon as you give an opinion that differs from the majority someone says that you shouldn't post!

I don't have teenagers, but I was, many moons ago, 'mum' in a project for young women with behavioural problems, so I like to think (hope) that I do know a bit about dealing with teens! I would hate to think people read my profile, saw that my own kids were 8 & 9 and dismissed me out of hand.

My boys will be a breeze in their teenage years as I've learned everything I need to know from mumsnet. Is that not the case?

boys are easier than the other variety!

SlartyBartFast · 25/02/2009 22:40

my dd is 11 and i can't believe she is ever going to behave badly
ds is ok
but dd aged 9 has perfected challenging teenager behaviour already

i am hoping she is getting it over and done with early!
her only saving grace is she does at least go to bed - eventually

Well I don't know, I am 20 so I occasionally pop on to see whether I can offer any advice from the other side.

But I gather from the other responses you are referring to a specific incident.
