to be annoyed that the children that didn't 'toss' won the pancake race?

The kids that ran and didn't toss won (of course!). The kids that diligently walked - as they'd been instructed - and tossed the pancake loads got a big fat zero. Where is the fairness in that? What message does that send?
Arrrrghhh

LOL I have just come back from the same pancake race fairynufff! We had added insult to injury as my youngest fell over on the finishing line.

I do sometimes wonder who dreams up these little competitions. DS's nursery are currently having a competition to see who can save the most pennies between now an dthe end of term.. The child who brings in the most money wins a prize

sorry not really relevant to your story

NorthernLurker · 24/02/2009 17:09

Nothing in wrong in that - sends the message that if yuu fall into line and follow the rules you are likely to get screwed by those with an eye for the main chance. Perfect message for life - not terribly cheerful certainly.

The children who won will grow up to be tossers, though.

Reminds me of the toddlers race at dds infant school. It was always a toddler who was CARRIED by their (running) mum who won. The other tots who ran by themselves got nothing.

Connor - what you describe has been discussed on here before. I would be tempted to abstain completely and send in a strongly-worded letter!

Fairynuff, Hi!

Reminds me of sports day. It breaks my heart every time to see my DS1 lose the skipping - because he is actually skipping, the egg race- because he is not holding the egg onto the spoon, and the hurdles,- because he is jumping over them and not just barrelling them over. What's so sweet is that he doesn't get upset, just gratified to have done it right (he's going to get annihalated at Senior school..)

DS2 on the other hand....

Very much agree with NorthernLurker's assessment of the situation!
