I was on the bus yesterday and this woman got on and sat behind me. The bloke she was with sat behind her ( not sure why they couldn't just sit together).

Anyway she starts talking to him quite loudly:

"I'm fucking starving. That sandwich in town was shit, tasted like fucking plastic"

I couldn't hear the blokes response very well as he was quieter.

She then said

"Oh I mean to tell you, my grandads house ... guess how much the bastards are charging for it.....£70 a week! but they won't have anyone on dole there. I'd have the cunt if they'd let me, keep it in the fucking family wouldn't it? look at that fat bitch over there! what the fuck is she eating? oh look, there's our Lesley! fat fucker going to chippy again!! bang on the window!! here, I'll bang on the cunt... "OI!!! FAT BASTARD!!"

why of why do people feel the need to act like this? there were little kids on the bus. I'm no prude, not easy to offend and yes I do swear but I felt like shoving another sandwich in her gob to shut her up.

I must apologise to any navvys out there too in case my post cause offence!

The people on the bus sound like poor souls to be honest. You don't know what kind of lives they've had or what has happened to make them like that.

I often saw people like that on the bus in glasgow when I was a kid. My mother taught me to view them with sympathy and understanding.

I think every country has its 'underclass'. The big question is why??? We have to understand that before we can judge or change (although I doubt such things will ever change).

Haylstones · 25/02/2009 12:02

I don't like hearing it either
BUT
for some people they don't actually know how to behave any differently. It's the norm for them as much as it is for you or me to behave the way we do. TBH, they would see people at the opposite end of the spectrum as we do them.
However, this certainly doesn't mean I want my children hearing it!
FWIW, when teenagers swear they generally don't even realise they're doing it. A quick tongue in cheek comment ande times out of time they'll stop doing it

* TBH, they would see people at the opposite end of the spectrum as alien as we do them.

I was in the park with my DTS who were 4yo at the time. Some teenagers were in there too even though the sign explicitly states that the area is for children age 11 yo and under so I assumed they could not read.

They were swearing so I told them to stop swearing in front of my children please and have some manners. There was some mumbling but they stopped and 5 minutes later they left.

If you don't stand up to these people, nothing will change.

I hate swearing, I personally don't do it and don't want my children subjected to it either.

My other pet hate is the taking of the Lord's name in vain but I know that I am fighting a losing battle with that one.

I hate that too, spokette, but somehow that's more acceptable than swearing.

HecateQueenOfGhosts · 25/02/2009 12:38

Some fucking people fucking swear conversationally. They don't fucking notice they are fucking doing it and wouldn't fucking think anything of it if you fucking said anything because they've fucking grown up with everyone fucking talking like that.

It's very fucking depressing.

Not to mention dull to listen to.

There are so very many words. Some people just seem to only know about 100 and have to spend their whole lives trying to express themselves with those.
