to be frustrated on behalf of DH

I know that many many people have been made redundant. I know that we are fairly "lucky" because we have savings/redundancy money and can pay our mortgage for maybe a year. I know that one day it may all be ok again ...... but for now I am so so frustrated.

I have been off for a year on maternity leave. I have gone back part time. Perfect, except for part time salary of course!

DH made redundant at Christmas.

Thought he had found work in January for the offer to be "withdrawn" so he is looking after DD 3 days a week and looking for work in her lunch nap and evenings, and obviously on my 2 days "off".

Finding it so so frustrating as he has lots of experience but is not even getting interviews (after that initial "offer"). He has down graded the work he is looking for and even looking at jobs at half his last salary but not even getting to the interview stage. He has asked for feedback and no one will give any. I know that its policy and I know that they cant make an exception for just one person but arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Just couldn't ignore your post... he sounds like he is putting a huge effort to find another job, I hope that effort is rewarded very soon

Thank you BT. I was feeling a bit silly as wondered whether my "moan" was unimportant compared to what a lot of people are going through.

Its just frustrating when you apply for a job 10 miles down the road, the CV goes off to the USA (!) and then you get a reject email within days. And yet he seems perfect for the role, just its less money.

We live in an average house but in a nice area (for Notts) and at this rate we wont be able to keep it

And (sorry!!) we want another baby but dare not risk the cost at the moment as I am the only one working.

Tell him to keep at it, but it could take a long time. DH was made redundant in the summer (July) and started a job last week! He was applying for an average of about 30 jobs a week as well as looking after DS at home whilst I worked pt. It was hugely frustrating as he is so bright and talented. The problem is it's an employers market and there are huge numbers of job seekers out there for the more 'professional' jobs and they can afford to be really choosy when they have over 200 applicants for every job.

Best of luck.

Oh my word! I would say he is only applying for 2 or 3 a week, most of the time on the phone to agencies or trying to find them.
Congrats to your DH Wedgiesmum.
At this rate DD could be at secondary school before DH finds work!
