To take offence at being called a 'F**king Old Witch' by DH?

We are all going out today, so I have been up since 6am, getting breakfast for the baby who has a bottle when he wakes (which was 6am), breakfast for DD who woke up not long after, making sandwiches, ironing, tidying round and making DH a cup of tea, as well as packing the bags for today.

DH brings the baby up to get him dressed and he's done a big leaky poo, which is all over his back and out of his nappy and requires some cleaning. I'm in the shower and DH starts shouting and moaning about cleaning it and saying he can't cope. Cue me losing my rag at not being able to have even 5 mins peace and telling him he's being silly and of course he can cope. DH responds by telling me I'm doing the 'high pitched squealing thing' which I apparrently know he hates and calling me a Fucking Old Witch.

Rant over, but FFS, can't they cope with anything? And I might be a witch, but I'm not an old one.

No, if you've lived with him avoiding nappies that long, you really can't expect it to happen easily now.....

If we have an argument, there's never any question of DH leaving, UD, I always suggest I will "can I, please, pretty please???"

Niftyblue · 23/02/2009 12:24

what does he want a medal????
He changed a dirty nappy big deal and he can`t cope?

Dont think it was nice what he said to you dh wouldnt have done it as he would`nt have got away with it BUT...

Next time dc does a big smelly nappy pass him/her to dh saying "you need more pratice"
I the witch needs to make potions(sp) turning you from a frog to a prince

screamingabdab · 23/02/2009 12:37

To be fair, I don't think OP said the DH never changes nappies, just that this one was a particularly challenging one for him

mm22bys · 23/02/2009 13:32

Of course YANBU. Talking that way to someone's wife is just not on. I hope he apologised..

ABetaDad · 23/02/2009 13:35

I am SURE that by now the OP's husband knows he has done wrong. I always do and I like to be forgiven and to move on.

Maybe the husband in this case would like to get more involved with the children but does not know how?

MrsMattie · 23/02/2009 13:39

I wouldn't have anyone calling me a 'fucking old witch', especially not my husband. I might be tempted to leave him with a pile of clean nappies and an instruction manual for and go off to the pub my fucking Coven for a night.

This is sooooo my DH. Highly capable at most things but any 'extreme' child related crisis requires yelling my name loudly followed by an order that I 'give him a hand'. When I point out that I usually do all these things, on my own, without fuss he'll say "well I don't have to manage by myself because you're here".

In fairness to your DH - those drippy up-the-back poos did require two pairs of hands if possible but the witch comment would've resulted in a silent picnic and weeks of silence + general freeze-out until an apology was forthcoming.

I once kept this up for nearly a year after my husband said something very offensive to me in front of two of my friends. It very nearly ended in divorce.

I would rather forgive an affair than a husband who talked to me like shit.

piscesmoon · 23/02/2009 14:30

I wouldn't let anyone call me names like that-most certainly not the person who loves me! Completely unacceptable and I would make a very big deal out of it.

screamingabdab · 23/02/2009 14:30

@Fairynuff

Do we have the same DH ?

thequietone · 23/02/2009 14:35

listen to this one...DS2 is going to be one on Wednesday. Hurrah!!!

DH has not yet given him a bath.

NotPlayingAnyMore · 23/02/2009 14:52

Eve4Walle YANBU to take offence (or to have a great name! )

lizziemun · 23/02/2009 15:17

YANBU

My DH doesn't do nappies unless he has to.

But he would do it if i wasn't around. He has been known to change dd2 pooey bum, then go and throw up.

Fairynufff · 23/02/2009 17:12

screamingabdab - strange - from your earlier post (the "gutful" comment) and username (a word I use all the time) I wondered if we were the same person!

screamingabdab · 23/02/2009 17:16

Fairynuff.. Spooooky. Does your son have worms too?

Fairynufff · 23/02/2009 17:37

screamingabdab - Oooh I don't know - I'll have to check now!

screamingabdab · 23/02/2009 17:43

Fairy (may I call you Fairy?) Check out my other AIBU "thread" on that one.

BTW that was my first thread- gratifying to have got some replies and survive unscathed

mamas12 · 23/02/2009 19:33

I would let him take dc on the picnic and you stay at home and have the day to yourself. Let him see how much work it is. Also agree that you do need to give him (slowly to start with ) more responsiblities.
