To really HATE is when people say I look 'blooming'?

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with my forth child, and I have always really hated it when people say ''You look blooming'' - especially when they say it with a knowing smile and you can tell it's code for 'You're turning into a big fat tub of lard'

Is it just me and my hormones, or is anyone else offended by the word 'blooming'??

It's you and your hormones. It's just meant to be a nice thing to say. If you looked awful they wouldn't say anything

What's wrong with the word blooming? I'd take it as a big compliment. Only positive vibes come from the word. YABU. Better than being told you look tired or washed out surely.

I think it's your hormones. I was delighted even when they told me "look at you, you are getting bigger" . They mean well.

Hormones it is then - I am inclined to agree

I've had two babies and I felt like I bloomed at 30 weeks, it was a lovely feeling (not so much so by 35 weeks!)

I too have told people they look "positively blooming" and I meant they looked radiant, and blossoming - which does mean growing round but that's a part of pregnancy surely? I have never said it to mean "you look fat", if people thought that surely they'd say nothing? I don't know many people that compliment needlessly, more so now when people seem to be offended by so much!
