to be annoyed that dp has soiled my homemade picnic with some cheap apple turnovers from the supermarket.

I have made: scones, lemon drizzle cake, chicken drumsticks of two varieties, a chicken and mango salad, home made lemonade, home made sausage rolls, smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels will add sandwiches tomorrow. I was preparing my rather fabulous wicker basket and rather revelling in my all round ponciness when I spotted the offending items.

If I take them out of the packaging will I manage to convince myself that I made them?

Poor bloke. Allowed no input into what he eats on his picnic.
Did you tell him you're inclined to be a bit of a control freak when it comes to things like that?
The picnic sounds lovely, but I suspect he was just trying to help or feel he had some input into the day by adding things. Getting upset at his clumsy attempts to do so does seem a bit OTT.
If my bloke had stuff in a picnic basket and I added a few bits I thought would be nice I'd be upset if he removed them.
Is this thread a wind up? It does sound very Enid Blyton and retentive?

Is a jokey thread 2rebecca!

Faux-moaning can be just that - no deeper underlying issues to be detected, just TAP revelling in the food she has made (which sounds brill).

I personally think he should be made to sit on his own, let him buy himself some gregs sausage rolls for his "main" and guzzle down fruit shoots, whilst you and the children enjoy the fruits of your labours

I was joking 2rebecca although I am quite enid blyton and retentive. Although non of the shop bought stuff has been touched and a very posh tweedy official man said my scones were the best he had tasted!

I'm suprised no one has mentioned lashings of ginger beer yet?

twinsetandpearls · 22/02/2009 17:23

DoThisDoThat · 22/02/2009 17:28

twinset, is the chicken and mango salad the gordon ramsey one? It's fab.

My favourite thread of today, made me smile, with your wafflings of grease and Olivia N-J and Club biscuits and also made my mouth water.

twinsetandpearls · 22/02/2009 17:32

I think it was a nigella one.

Sprinkle the turnovers with icing sugar and bash them about a bit. Then they will look homemade!

myfunnynametaken · 22/02/2009 20:23

divorce the bastard

twinsetandpearls · 22/02/2009 22:41

I would have to marry him first.
