To want to get the bus to my own wedding...

My mum is a chilled out person mostly but when I said me and the OH were thinking of getting the bus to our wedding (just up the road) my mum said I shouldn't.

She's making the dress and says it will get creased, but we're going for lunch afterwards and I think if it is going to get creased it will anyway... unless I walk

I got the bus to the church, but my dad owns a bus company, and I drive buses so would have seemed silly for me to go in a car.

FWIW, we get lots of wedding bookings for our coaches, you could hire a vintage coach, pricey, but really cool.

gemdangracie thanks, those photos are ace! I love the big photo with your families

You are welcome! we got there in the end! what did yoou think of the buses we hired?

deste · 22/02/2009 19:24

Saw a wedding party at a nearby hotel on Friday and the bride and guests all came off an old London bus. I thought it was a great idea. I know that both venues (wedding and reception)had dodgy parking so they decided it would be easier if there was only parking for one vehicle.

samsonara · 22/02/2009 19:33

How cool, I would be well impressed if I saw you hop on a bus in your wedding dress, I think people on the bus would be shocked but happy to make space for you and probably help you get the best seat

nooka · 22/02/2009 19:46

We hired a Routemaster for our wedding, to go from the church to the reception. My parents were not at all keen, but our guests loved it, and it was a really fun trip. I went in my dad's car to the church - I don't think that bit matters too much.

beanieb · 22/02/2009 21:53

I loved the bus!
