I have 2 DS's (2.7 and 3 months) and DH works away about 50% of the time.

He tells me how he would rather be at home, being away isn't much fun blah blah which I accept but....

So far this week, apart from all the usual housework, childcare etc that comes with having 2 children under 3, I spent over an hour last night trying to get DS1 to bed when all I wanted to do was flop in front of the telly with my tea. Tonight, DS1 decided, for the first time in his life, to do a huge poo in the bath!! Fortunately I had just got DS2 out otherwise he would have been bathing in it!! So I then had to use a toy fishing net to fish all the bits out whilst trying to deal with DS1's hysteria (he is not potty trained yet so I don't think he knew what had happened).

In contrast, DH is staying in nice hotels, having 3 course meals/wine in the evenings, no housework, has yummy breakfasts provided for him etc.

AIBU to sometimes just wish I could be DH for a week or so??

YANBU.

Occasionally I would happily swap places with pretty much anyone away from DCs!!!

hannahlouhoo · 17/02/2009 20:05

YANBU, i would love my dp life sometimes!!

Ceebee74 · 17/02/2009 20:12

Glad it isn't just me then!

In fact, that has made me think what I would like for my birthday - just one night in a nice hotel by myself - I would love it!

YANBU in the least! I feel the same when my DH is away too.

That sounds like a great birthday present idea too!!

Mimsy2000 · 17/02/2009 20:19

that is a fantastic birthday present.

and no yanbu.

newatthis1981 · 17/02/2009 20:27

i feel i would love my partners life and he doesn't even work away so don't feel bad :-)

BenFMsmum · 17/02/2009 20:45

YANBU at all!! I feel exactly the same way!! My dp isn't away as much as 50% of the time and I only have one ds 3.4 with mild autism and I have a full time job, working from home. I end up doing all the household stuff, and looking after my son during the day and then doing my work stuff in the evenings. I am about to go and print off and collate sets of notes for a course on Thursday, put them in folders etc now after just finishing the bed routine, tidying up toys, washing up, emptying the tumble drier (4 loads done today!) and my dp has rung to say he is in bed in the hotel after having a nice meal out!! I understand completely how you feel and wish I could change places too, frequently!! There that's got that off my chest!!

newatthis1981 · 17/02/2009 20:52

yes this supports my theory that boys are rubbish

BenFMsmum · 17/02/2009 20:55

Right now I'd rather be a rubbish boy!

mamas12 · 17/02/2009 22:50

wow he has actually said he wants to be at home. So why disapoint the love. When is he next home? Organise your trip away, wven if it's only down the road to a friends for the night but please do it. You will both benefit enormously. Gwan!
