AIBU To Give Them Her Address?

So, have been living in my new house a fortnight tomorrow, and i've had three different set of baliffs knocking on my door, asking for the previous tennant. I have thirty five letters for said tennant, all from debt collection agencies and courts.

Today, my new next door neighbour gave me the previous tennants new address - would IBU to give the next set of baliffs who knock on my door looking for her, her new address?

I think you would be well advised to give them her new address. We had bailiffs turning up for a previous tenant of our old house, and court summons - very nasty.

I reckon morally it's the right thing to do as well - now you have the address, if you don't hand it over, you would be helping her evade her responsibilities.

We moved into a house that had been reposessed and had the same problem. We ended up having to put a large poster on both the front and back doors, because they had said they were coming in to claim goods, even though we had given them all the information about us owning the house and the previous owners solicitors details (we did not have their address). I was dreading coming home from work every day to find my house ransacked.

this happened to us and the forwarding address was actually false - I guess I'd lie if I had run up the debts the previous tenants of our house had got too - the best way to stop the calls, letters and visits is as previous posters say - open the letters, get the name and ref no of the company, and call them or it really doesn't stop (I waited 2 years for it to stop...)
you will have to provide proof of tenancy/residency, I had to fax them copies of the tenancy agreement which was a right pain in the arse to be honest, but at least we live in peace now!
They had many companies registered to this house as well, all being chased by customs, inland revenue... nightmare!

YANBU to want to live without the inconvenience of dealing with the financial mess of others, I gave their address to anybody who asked until we worked out it was a red herring.

Listen very carefully - I shall say this only wonce - GIVE THEM THE ADDRESS - it is not your problem - I'm sure you have enough of your own like the rest of us.

it's important to pass on the info to whoever is chasing her as YOUR address will end up blacklisted and YOU may find yourself unable to get credit etc later
