Took two days holiday from work for some me time. Sounds poncy I know, but really means catching up on ironing and Sky+, and pottering about in the kitchen (which I love and don't get a chance to do with a 2yo).

But DS now has conjunctivitis (mild) and won't be able to go to nursery.

Am I pathetic to be upset?

no, not pathetic at all! I hate it when I have planned stuff and then it changes, it isn't fair is it?/

costagirl · 11/02/2009 21:13

No! Made my DS age 2 go to nursery this pm even though he's got a rotten cold, as I was DESPERATE for an hour to myself before work. YANBU at all. It's sod's law that the conjunctivitis has come now. Poor you.

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 21:13

no - not at all ...can you plonk him in front of cbeebies or anything so you can potter or is he in need of care?

any chance of dp taking him on for a bit so you get some time out?

Thankyouandgoodnight · 11/02/2009 21:17

oh no you poor thing - I do sympathise and NO YANBU!!!! Check with the nusery but ours takes them as long as they're being treated....

Nightcrawly · 11/02/2009 21:17

YANBU, I would be disappointed too, you are allowed to have a life! Although catching up on ironing is strictly not allowed

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 11/02/2009 21:18

No yanbu to feel sad - i have some me days coming up before the end of March and i pray ds is well enough to still go in so i can recharge and catch up.

MrsMattie · 11/02/2009 21:19

No. I have been trying to sort out my Masters application all week. I usually relish the time my 4 yr old is at nursery (mornings) and baby DD is sleeping to get this sort of thing done. Unfortunately, DS has been off sick with flu type thing and DD has got a cold and conjuctivitis, so no peace and quiet at all. Ended up feeling frazzled and guilty on all counts today. Grrrr.

YANBU.

Sassybeast · 11/02/2009 21:19

YAB VERY U - to use precious pottering time for ironing. For me, it would be feet up, crappy telly and afew packets of jaffa cakes just for MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Hope he's ok - any opportunity for some you time in the near future?

Gloria42 · 11/02/2009 21:20

Glad to not be shot down in flames!

He's a sweetheart really, symptoms very mild so not ill as such, but quite high maintenance. Will only play by himself for a matter of minutes but I have to do nothing or whatever I do is SOOOOOOOOOOO much more interesting.

I had planned a lovely shopping day in Glasgow tomorrow but have decided to go for a couple of hours (which he will not enjoy) but to go by train (which he will love)

I feel bad for feeling bad IYSWIM, I should be happy to spend extra time with DS. Shouldn't I

god no, last week I was grumps personified stuck with dd all day for an extra 3 days because of the snow

I just wanted coffee and pottering

CrushWithEyeliner · 11/02/2009 21:22

hell no! I relish the nursery time for DD 2 mornings a week she is also 2.

I also look forward to cleaning the house and watching old movies on Sky +

Ceebee74 · 11/02/2009 21:24

Absolutely NBU - I remember I had a week off work last year and was really looking forward to lots of 'me' time whilst DS1 was at nursery...my niece had chicken pox and was supposed to be coming round a few days before and I wouldn't let her as there was no way I was risking DS1 getting chicken pox and ruining my week

noonki · 11/02/2009 21:25

if you work full time though it is a nice thing really...(any nap time in there when you can sneak in a jaffacake frenzy?!?)

Gloria42 · 11/02/2009 21:25

Actually, now I feel like a total saddo for being upset to miss doing housework!

accordiongirl · 11/02/2009 21:52

It's totally understandable.
Bang your head against the wall.

Poppycake · 11/02/2009 22:00

understand about the housework too - doing it properly rather than frantically - and with the radio on and generally being civilised! Poor you - I have a similar thing on Friday, in that dd1 and i were going to have a girly day together, but dd2 is quarantined and in any case doesn't shop and cafe and chat like we do (she is only 22 months old!!), so it's not going as planned! You have my sympathy

Gloria42 · 12/02/2009 12:54

Someone up there definitely doesn't like me! Got DS into town on train, lovely. Buggy got puncture (P&T) and had to come straight back again !!!
