To think that a gym should have showers?

I use my local council gyms, and they have recently been refurbished and are very posh - individual TVs on the cardio machines, computers to personalise your fitness programme for you etc.

But none of them have showers in the changing rooms, just lockers and cubicles. I asked about showering and she said maybe I could use the swimming showers but they are communal and I don't really want to have to get naked in public and surely that defeats the point of having gym specific changing rooms.

ARGHHHHHHHHH. Would be nice to go to gym, have shower, do some errands and then come home.

That is really stupid not putting showers in. Surely they're essential.

All of our local councils gym's have just been refurbed. We have no TV's or even changing rooms.

And they stole the sunbeds

Erm there are showers it's just you choose not to use them.

blametheparents · 11/02/2009 12:35

Yes, but she would then have to put her swimsuit on presuamably if they are communal showers?
Seems a bit stupid to do a big re-furb and then only leave communal showers.

I got the impression from the OP that the gym changing rooms were seperate from the swimming pool changing rooms, which is where the showers are - so she'd have to move all her stuff to a different changing room just to have a shower - which does not seem reasonable to me!

And no, it is not unreasonable to expect to be able to shower when you are hot and sweaty after a work-out! What numpty designer thought showers wouldn't be necessary??

smurfgirl · 11/02/2009 12:42

Sorry to be clear, the changing rooms for the swimming pool are in a completely different place to where the gym and the gym changing rooms are.

I could get changed in the swimming pool changing rooms and then put my costume on afterwards and then shower but what a hassle, I already have to endure putting my swimming costime on 4 times a week without adding to it! I personally don't feel comfortable showering naked and so would have to take something to change into.

In other gyms I have been to in the gym changing rooms there are a couple of shower cubicles.

You shower naked at home, smurfgirl? You hussy!

I hope I haven't offended anyone - my last comment was meant as a joke, and if it has upset anyone, particularly smurfgirl, then I apologise unreservedly.
