AIBU to wish my DSs at 4 and 5 stop seeing that hitting the loo bowl when they pee is an optional , ideal extra!!

I used to be normal....now I'm becoming increasingly worried about my obsession with keeping my loo seat clean and mopping up after my little darlings! They often daydream; chat; don't bother; imagine their peeing is actually a lightsaber and they're in a battle (!!)and all in all make a bit of a mess. Will I ever chill out about this? Dh is considerate - and I've tried the target at back of bowl thing which just meant wee went up the wall too! Or should I just give in and wear eau du bleach as though it's the latest trend?..

aren't they lifting the seat up?

just get them to put it back down when they've finished. That way, you can't see where they've pissed when you go to the loo so it will only piss you off when you lift the seat to clean

oldraver · 06/02/2009 20:00

I think you can get something that is supposed to go in the bottom of loos/pottys for them to aim at. Failing that get them to sit down if they find aiming so hard

shrinetothomastank · 06/02/2009 20:01

No - that's just it, they sometimes don't lift up the seat at all! They're only young and I'm just having a rant really but it is driving me bonkers and making me question why I'm actually bothered (am I sad?)...I tell them them to be careful and my 4 year old (bless' im !) just tells me it's very difficult telling his pee where to go. I should laugh really...

I have heard of keeping a bowl of Cheerios in the loo. They have to put a Cheerio in the loo then aim to hit it.

I do suspect that my DS would just then sprinkle Cheerios around the bathroom giving me something else to clear up.

Or sit on the loo munching Cheerios.

foxinsocks · 06/02/2009 20:05

yeah 4 is asking a bit much

ds is 7 and is finally getting better

at 4, they still take their willies out of their underpants all scrunched up and forget to point!

Niecie · 06/02/2009 20:05

I think eau du bleach is de rigeur for this this season's well turned out mother of boys.

Mine are 8 and 5 and they both have rather a scattergun effect with their wee. I think some of them never grow out of it.

The only thing that has worked temporarily for me is to put kitchen roll all round the toilet and they can instantly see when they have wee'd on the floor. They pay attention for a bit but it doesn't last long.

I have started to get them to mop it up (if I can work out which one it was) and that has focussed the mind a bit but there are no quick cures for this I don't think.

shrinetothomastank · 06/02/2009 20:05

Thanks MmeLindt, that's brilliant! i could try it wirh chocolate weetos and encourage them to make the water choclatey!....sorry to be awful but if it works..

Thanks all - with DS3 at 6 months I think I'll be smelling of dometo for years to come but I must keep remembering there are worse things to mop up than wee....

shrinetothomastank · 06/02/2009 20:10

I meant domestos - or i may have invented a new fragrance...

as long as you don't have carpet on the floor in the bathroom!

aendr · 06/02/2009 22:14

How about a ping pong ball in the loo? If they hit, they make it spin, so concentrating their minds on going into the water as that's where it will be. It floats so won't get flushed.

mamas12 · 06/02/2009 22:24

let them pee outside. Honestly I have read that male urine is v.good for the garden. I kid you not. When they develope an aim they can pee in the toilet otherwise outside it is. Why not.

gigglewitch · 06/02/2009 22:26

omg we have the same isshooos. i thought it was to do with their height in relation to the toilet - but sadly not they still cant aim and they are 8 & 5. I have to add that dh still cant aim and he is 44. Just that now he can blame it on the boys

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 06/02/2009 22:32

A ping pong ball works better than cereal in the bowl as target practice.

Stayingsunnygirl · 06/02/2009 23:03

I'm sorry to say that we still have this problem to some extent - and mine are 11, 13 and 15. It used to be so bad that I could never go for a wee without inspecting the seat first.

And I don't get it - they have that handy directional hose attachment, and the hole they are aiming down is big enough, let's face it.

Mine managed to wee round the hinges of the loo seat so often that it rotted and fell apart one day when I sat down!

Things are better now, but they still don't lift the seat, and I still have to wipe round the back of the bowl.

Bonnycat · 06/02/2009 23:33

Was going to suggest a pingpong ball too,get them to draw a face on it

snowybun · 08/02/2009 00:56

We use a ping pong ball with a face on ds loves making it spin he is 4 and a half.

lessonlearned · 08/02/2009 01:18

Yup, pingpong ball!

nannyL · 08/02/2009 10:51

my 3 year old charge is much better (99%) i would say than his 6 year old brother

andlipsticktoo · 08/02/2009 11:05

oh no Stayingsunnygirl how depressing!
My dss are 12 10 and 6 and they all have their mishaps too! I was hoping it would get better soon.
Seem to spend most of my life mopping and wiping! I did get them to mop too but always had to finish the job myself! Have now just given up...
I don't think you can be anything but obsessed about ti unless you like standing in a puddle/sitting in a puddle EVERY time you wee!
