Ebay rage!

I managed to find a hard to find toy on Ebay that ds has wanted for ages. I paid £30.00 for it, it is usually £14.99 but unavailable anywhere at the moment. It arrived I was very pleased until I saw a little price tag on it saying £2. Obviously the seller found it in a carboot sale or something and that is what he paid.

I so know IV ABU but I am fuming anyway .

I've sold stuff on Ebay I got for free.

And people have made silly money for that old rope.

Heeeheeheee.

HellHathNoFury · 06/02/2009 20:19

I sell gifts on ebay that I don't want. I paid nothing for them.

I'm such a greedy bitch!

Fleurlechaunte · 06/02/2009 20:23

Obviously I know that people sell to make a profit and that in itself doesn't bother me, BUT I don't particularly want to know HOW MUCH profit they made. Remove the price tags people!

I always feel a bit guilty when I make a big profit on anything I sell. If I sell it for much more than I paid for it I always take the tag off. I dont want to rub it in LOL.

Stupid really. The reason I sold all my clothes is that I was out of work and really needed money. It just happens that I was the queen of the bargain hunters and bought a lot of stuff or next to nothing.

I would be going mental if I were the OP. I would KNOW that IWBU but that wouldnt matter. I doubt if I would even be able to look at the bloody thing.

I would stick it back on ebay and see if you can make a profit

warthog · 06/02/2009 20:25

maybe he put the price tag there himself! just for a laugh

southeastastra · 06/02/2009 20:25

yes, they should have removed the tag granted .

some of the things dp sells for £££ that he got for ppp is mad.

it's the joy of ebay

expatinscotland · 06/02/2009 20:27

my dad gave me this HP 11c calculator he was going to throw out. some guy in greece paid £98 for it.

Fleurlechaunte · 06/02/2009 20:30

Did you leave the price tag on expat?

OP posts:
Pawslikepaddington · 06/02/2009 20:33

I love Mr Frosty-I would have paid £30 too-"Mr Frosty is such fun ......"

southeastastra · 06/02/2009 20:37

are you going to try it out?

expatinscotland · 06/02/2009 20:37

I don't think I have on anything, but then again, I might have by accident. Like HellHath, I sell unwanted gifts.

Even if I bought something that did have a tag like that, I wouldn't get angry.

I mean, what's to be angry about? He put it up for auction and you bid that price.

You know the old saying about people only paying what something is worth.

Well, to you, it was worth £30.

Fleurlechaunte · 06/02/2009 20:42

Yes, I bought it for ds. I would feel bad if I kept it back in the hope of making some piddly bit of profit in the future. I had one when I was a kid and I really enjoyed using it and he has been talking about it for ages.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 06/02/2009 20:42

dp has sold lots of things for over £50 that he'd got for a fiver.

southeastastra · 06/02/2009 20:42

fleur let him play with it

Fleurlechaunte · 06/02/2009 20:44

Maybe I could just show it to him, so he knows he has got it but we can't actually open the box . I am sure he will be grateful in a few years time.

OP posts:
Mimia · 06/02/2009 20:45

Blimey, they had this in my local toyshop today reduced to £9.99, perhaps I should go back and buy it and sell it on ebay! Anyway Fleurechaunte, don't you know the rule that all children that want a Mr Frosty must never actually get bought one? See the things our parents refused to buy us thread

expatinscotland · 06/02/2009 20:46

also if you re-sold it and didn't put a min bid on it you may wind up losing money.

that's the nature of auctions: you win some, you lose some.

Fleurlechaunte · 06/02/2009 20:48

Well there you go Mimia. If he complains I can say "Well at least I bought you one, even if you can't actually play with it". Everyones a winner .

OP posts:
southeastastra · 06/02/2009 20:49

yes show it to him, then put it away and buy a cheapo version from argos

mylifemykids · 06/02/2009 20:52

Ooo I've got one of those in the attic!

I do understand the fact that you wouldn't be annoyed if he'd removed the £2 label though. I bought a dress for DD on Ebay and the seller had, badly, tried to remove the sale tags. BUT, even before the sale she'd sold it to me for more than the original price! I was peeved but wouldn't have known any different if she'd removed the tags lol

blueshoes · 06/02/2009 21:26

I have sold things BNWT (unwanted gift where the price tag was left on) which sold for less than the original price, as expected. The buyer could see exactly the bargain they were getting, and I did not mention the original price in the listing.

mylifemykids · 06/02/2009 21:27

Yes but it's the fact that they left the price tag on that was the wind up I think!
