she is 2. I have a low grade fever, have lost my voice and suspect a chest infection. She has watched DVDs almost all day , although I did manage some run around time in the garden this morning before I just caved in to this bug.

I feel really rotten about it - now I am on here and she is watching Clifford..is this bad? Be honest

Ummm noooo.....at least I hope not. I've got a bug and my two kids have played DS and watched TV for two days....no choice really as I've been dying on the sofa!! It's OK once in a while and so long as it's not often I'd say don't beat yourself up!

Of course you are not BU - honestly! If you were a crap mum you would not be on here worrying that for one unusual day, you have left your DD watch TV. So you are obviously a kind, caring Mum who has had a bad day.

She needs to know that sometimes Mummies get sick too - give yourself a break.

Hope you feel better soon.

Same here - been feeling really guilty but we are snowed in and can't do our normal stuff - phew, glad I'm not the only one!

CrushWithEyeliner · 03/02/2009 18:22

ow you are all sweet thank you! I have really been beating myself up over this, but it is not the norm - I don't ban TV or anything but don't watch loads like this. i tried to play this morn but I can't even speak it' s crazy

YANBU. Well done for getting her out in the garden. Hope you feel better soon.

ClaraDeLaNoche · 03/02/2009 18:34

Oh don't feel bad, I did it too today, we were potty training and it seemed to be the only thing to do on such a rotten day. I have cheated though, I taped the "Goodnight" Cbeebies song and played it at 6.15 to trick them into bed early.

CrushWithEyeliner · 03/02/2009 19:37

lol - good thinking, DD is always eating her dinner when that comes on and I think she is the only child on the planet still up!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one thats done this today

Was up with ds2 during the night, and have had a migraine all day. So the telly has been one all day. Although we did manage a little play in the snow this morning.

debs40 · 03/02/2009 20:15

Blimey don't worry about it (although we all know that guilt!). I used to drive myself potty with this sort of thing when I just had one child. Every minute was packed with educationally motivated play enhancing motor skills and blah blah blah

Now I have two and it's all gone out of the window! They are boys of 6 and 3 and are completely bonkers and if I can persuade them to sit and watch tele for an hour I am a VERY pleased mum!

You've got to look at these things in the round - over their growing up years if they have the occasional day watching tele or even being bored because of other commitments (illness/snow/other demands) then they will be fine and grow up to realise...this is normal life!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2009 21:02

we have had the tv on more than we normally have, as nursery was hut, and fed up with playing in snow - but couldnt get out of house

i have had tv/sofa days when feeling ill

perfectly normal, and sure dd enjoyed and isnt harmed for life
