To have cut my own hair, on a whim at midnight last night?

I have a real problem with hairdressers and i HATE having my haircut, have never really liked any of the cuts ive had and i hate having to look at myself in the mirror for so long - uggghh. My hair was looking AWFUL, hadn't been cut for three years and it was straggly and dead endy and just looked like a rats nest.

So last night, just before i went to bed i spotted DDs sciccors next to the hair brush and thought "fuck it whats the worse that could happen?" I figured the worse would be that i would screw it up and have to pay out to have it fixed. SO i bunched my hair up into a pony tail with my hand, tried to make sure it was all level and hacked it all off - its just above the shoulder now - went to look in the mirror and was , it looked OK, apart from one bit that i had missed and i just cut it off. I'm really happy with it, it looks fine, this morning i tidied it up and put some shape in the front of it and tried to make sure there were not any stray "tails". I'm happy - saved me £40 on a hair cut that i would moan about anyway, and the trauma of the hair dressers.

Had a row with DP yesterday so i was feeling a tad delicate, but we made up. This morning he noticed the hair in the bathroom - even though he had seen me beforehand and came back and said, have you been cutting your hair? Are you mentally unstable?? LMAO um, no, i don't think so - why would he think that. My mum always cut her own hair. I wouldn't want to cut it any shorter as i don't think it would be so forgiving but i reckon its the best cut ive had, and the best value for money /

Ive just shaped the fringe into a proper fringe, and im really chuffed with it actually - you see, im doing what I want to do with it, im not sure about the back yet, but might get DP to have a go and any stray bits later if there are any - don't think i will be going to the hair dressers again now until i can afford a really decent cut and some highlights. Around here most of the salons and independents but still cost about £30-40 for all of half an hour! Going to the hair dressers does nothing for my self esteem as i always tend to think that they must be thinking, fecks, she's such a minger, i don't know why she is bothering, well now - i wont, and now ive done my hair myself, i don't look QUITE so rough

Well done, it's so good when you can get it exactly how you want isn't it? Tha back is a problem, maybe try some sort of set up with multiple mirrors??

Maybe we should set up a MN hair trimming swap service for those of us who fail to get through to dislike hairdressers!
