To think that people are getting their knickers in a right old twist over something that really isn't that bad...

The endless threads and posts about the new layout

The threats to flounce

Regurgitating the same old stuff, over and over...

I prefer the old Classic layout (ie, yesterday's) But that's because it's what I was using until, er, yesterday!

I am sure you will all get used to it, in time

Change is good, people

I apologise if this has been said already in countless other threads

Ooh, Hello Lulu!

Yes, I did like it!

Glad all the old faces are still in it

Love the blatant fagging it in front of baby scenes...

Next week's looks promising

You?

Lulumama · 30/01/2009 20:43

tiny bit concerned it is descending into self parody, but still blinding ! forgot to sky + it off E4 for the second episode.

ScottishMummy · 30/01/2009 20:46

hell, the world turns we will get over it.and live to paost another day.enough with the whining

notnowbernard · 30/01/2009 20:47

What do you mean by self-parody?

That it's 'aping' itself?

OP posts:
Lulumama · 30/01/2009 20:49

yep, going just that bit too far, self knowing and in jokes and over the top etc..

notnowbernard · 30/01/2009 20:52

I sort of know what you mean, I think (wouldn't have been able to put it into words though!)

WIll watch the series unfold with interest

Next week's episode looks a bit more like a return to form

I am finding it difficult to watch the Maguires' in the same light since that Tina woman was on BB

And I thought they were becoming a bit too 'comical' last series (before that they wew quite terrifying )

I'm one of those who's been getting their knickers in a twist.

I'm not whineing because the colour's changed, the layout's changed, the margins have got bigger, the links are in different places and so on, but because I BLOODY WELL CAN'T READ IT as the text is too small !!!!!!

Okay ..... I can read it - just about - but it's a strain and it hurts. I am very short sighted (eyes checked 2 weeks ago) and I'm sure I can't be the only MNer who is finding this physically difficult ?

I feel excluded I guess because I probably won't be using the forums as often as I do, NOT because I am flouncing in protest at a different shade of blue or whatever, but because my access to the site has just been made really hard.

cheesesarnie · 30/01/2009 21:50

i moaned earlier but am still very attached to mn so cant be bothering me too much!

WhatsTheBloodyPoint · 30/01/2009 21:53

The text size hasn't changed for me.

Have you tried all the various options (don't ask me, I'm sure they're being spelt out in threads all over the site)

Sorry, but feeling "excluded" because the text size has changed and you haven't yet found out how to enlarge it (I'm no techy, but I'm sure there'll be some tech way of changing it and someone helpful will tell yo how soon) is just sooo over-dramatic and yes, knicker-twisting.

catsmother · 30/01/2009 22:00

I've certainly tried all the options I've read in the various threads and to no avail.

And I'm so sorry that having poor eyesight and therefore feeling disappointed that I can't use the site easily is "sooo over-dramatic". I hope you never have sight problems.

MrsFreud · 30/01/2009 22:01

I love the new look but MNTOWERS if you are reading this...

Its very slo-o-ow

and it won't customise my active searches anymore so am forced to scan down breast-feeding, piles and other long since forgotten delights of lickle babies!

WhatsTheBloodyPoint · 30/01/2009 22:06

catsmother I've found someone who's increased the font size and requested they pop over to this thread to tell you how. Fingers crossed.

scrooged · 30/01/2009 22:08

I can't read it too well either.

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 22:11

catsmother - do you have a mouse with a scroll wheel?
If you do, try holding down ctrl as you scroll down - the text will increase in size.
If not, use ctrl & =

And if you use Firefox 3, it will remember your chosen zoom when you come back to MN - even if you've closed it between visits, but it doesn't affect other sites.

scrooged · 30/01/2009 22:14

Thanks. It a bit odd though as all the graphics are all over the place.

Aefondkiss · 30/01/2009 22:15

I don't really understand the text sizing thing... I set the size of text on my puter screen, using safari, go into view (at the top of my screen I have these options"Safari File Edit View History Bookmarks etc ") and there are options to click on i.e make text bigger, make text smaller.... I have a mac, is this a mac only feature or can this not be done on any browser?

random · 30/01/2009 22:16

Alt and scroll your mouse wheel will make it bigger

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 22:17

Mine seem OK - I've just zoomed in far enough so the text is a good size and the white margins have gone - but perhaps if you're on a narrower monitor & didn't have the margins it might have a different effect.

twinsetandpearls · 30/01/2009 22:19

I dont give a fuck, I do however have a parter/ child free night and will flounce if you lot dont enertain me.

random · 30/01/2009 22:21

Ive made it too big now ..its like a bloody kipper and chip book

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 22:21

Actually, if you are on Firefox, go on to the View menu & look at the Zoom menu - if you have a tick by Zoom Text Only, it does do strange things if you zoom too far. If you zoom the whole page the graphics stay in proportion.

WhatsTheBloodyPoint · 30/01/2009 22:23

Thanks random

RustyBear · 30/01/2009 22:29

Think it may be different for different computers - on my Toshiba laptop Alt-Scroll doesn't do anything, it needs ctrl

random · 30/01/2009 22:34

Must be different puters alt or ctrl plus scroll does the same on on my dell

catsmother · 30/01/2009 22:37

Rustybear - thank you SO much !!!

Have just tried that CTRL + scroll thing and it's done the trick. That is SO much better and I now feel rather pathetically relieved I can see again.

Brilliant.
