Probably being a bit emotional here but what with the loony dad dropping his daughter off a bridge yesterday and some poor dad being killed en route to seeing his wife and new baby in hospital today, it's quite unbearable - the News should come with some kind of health warning for the nervous and hormonal!

Sometimes it can seem overwhelmingly depressing. I work in news and all we see is a procession of bad news. I love doing good news stories, I don't think there are enough of them because if there were it would give a better perception of the world. For the one father who killed his daughter yesterday there are millions who didn't, millions who played with their little girls and boys, and took care of them, loved them, kissed them and put them to bed with a bedtime story. For the one poor man who was killed yesterday, there are millions who got home to their families last night.

so so sad isn't it thumbwitch
headfairy, you are right, it is hard to keep things in perspective, even our small village has been touched by tragedy this week and everyone on the playgound is in shock

makes you appreciate what you have each and every day though

exactly TPHWetc - it caught me unawares on the news this lunchtime and I was in bits before I knew it - hence my suggestion for healthwarnings! Perhaps there should be a late-night time for news of an emotionally traumatic nature, I don't know, I know we need to be aware of these things but it does play havoc with my day sometimes and DS really doesn't like seeing mummy cry for no obvious reason.

Ghastly. I made the mistake of turning the news on while I had lunch working at home yesterday - then again today. Got both stories. Horribly depressing stuff. Very hard to go back upstairs and concentrate.
