To put money is DS's bank for his birthday?

Its DS's 2nd Birthday on 2nd March and I am really struggling to find any pressies for him. I have bought him a couple of 'Noisy' books, a wooden bee on a stick he can push along and a little Push and Go car, but im struggling. He really doesnt play with toys at all, has no sense of imaginary play at all and doesnt have a favourite toy, show etc.

Is it wrong to put the rest of the money I would have spent into his bank account? Its his older brothers birthday on the 14th and I have spent about £60, which is what I would normally spend. I feel bad that I have spent so little on him and it might abait my guilt if I put it in his bank.

No, I think that's fine. He won't know! Better than buying stuff for the sake of it.

He is only 2 at the end of the day and will probably have more fun with the wrapping paper and boxes the toys you have bought him will come in! I think it's really sensible to put the balance of the money in his account. I am guessing he will get loads of stuff from friends and family anyway.

He won't notice, and the money will be there nicely earning interest until it's needed. It's a great idea.

very sensible idea

your plan is fine! if in a few months he really likes something, or something needs replacing because it broke, you have the money available

all 3 of our DC have winter birthdays very close to christmas. we usually put money/their birthday money aside and they can spend some of it at fairs etc in the summer, or buy things on holiday, and we have bought them "big" things for the garden like swing, slide etc later in the year.

we've also used money we are given for a day out to London zoo or something instead of buying a present from auntie X
