To be on strike?

My family are normally really helpful. We have a family rule taht whoever cooks doesn't wash up the plates etc after dinner. But just lately that rule seems to have slipped, so I'm working all day then coming home to do the hovvering, cooking and sometime sthe dog walking then still being left the washing up.

So, tonight I've made myself beans on toast and told the rest of them it's every man for themselves. I am on strike until they start pulling their weight again!

16 (17 in a month) and 18 so well old enough to be able to sort themselves out (and help with the washing up).

YANBU.

At that age in my mum house whoever came in first cooked dinner, the next in layed the table and cleared the table after the meal and the last in cleared up inc tidying the kitchen.

Sounds fair to me. Mind you, I cooked my own dinner most days from the age of 13

YANBU.

YANBU Good on you, how long do you think you can last not the kids you. Please stick it out until it is how you want it, inc. shopping for food to make the tea to do the washing up. It's just one big merry go round innit.

I did this with DP the other week lol

He kept leaving the washing up and giving excuses so I refused to cook or clean till he did it! It took 2 days but then he made the kitchen sparkle lol

Good for you -just make sure you dont cave in
