Straw poll required.....

It's my son's b.day on Thursday and we are having the usual family crowd on Saturday for a party. But I thought it would be nice to have a birthday tea for a couple of his friends on Thursday.
There is one friend in particualr he wanted to come but he has gone up to proper school now so I don't see his mum a daily basis anymore.

We used to get on pretty well at the school gates for a chat etc and have met up at the park a couple of times, but only just before xmas did I get her home number. So I rang it yesterday and left a message about the invite but she has not rung me back.

How long should I wait to ring again?
My DH says I should just leave it but I like this mum and would like us to be freinds too.....

Gosh it feels like school all over again!
What do you reckon ?

Yes I left my home and mobile numbers - I guess I just would have expected a call back the same day or evening.

Her son is quite a shy boy and I wanted to reassure her that the invite is an open one to her and her DD too.

I don't know why I feel so tense about it ? I guess I want to make it nice for my DS1....

I think leave it - the ball is in her court now. It would seem pushy to ring again (I realise that's not how you're being, but that's how it would seem).

LoveMyLapTop · 27/01/2009 16:02

maybe a text asking if she got the message as you need to know for numbers?

MascaraOHara · 27/01/2009 16:03

I never (v rarely) pick up my house phone messages because I always use my mobile.. I'd text her

LongDroopyBoobyLady · 27/01/2009 16:06

I would say leave it but I had a mum chase me for not getting back to her to accept her DDs party invitation - I did (honestly)! I left a message on her answer machine but her little one has a habit of wiping them off apparently.

I think the text idea is a good one.

Runoutofideas · 27/01/2009 16:06

I'd text her too - but maybe tomorrow so she's got a chance to call you tonight. She may have been busy or not seen the message last night. It would be a shame if she didn't make it just because she didn't see the message in time.

pippylongstockings · 28/01/2009 12:30

Can't text as I don't have her mobile number....

However, there is a happy ending - as she has just texted me to say sorry she had only picked up home messages and they will all be coming!

I'm another one who never checks phone messages. I figure people will call me on my mob, or email me.
