Would you say anything there and then? wait until you got home? stay out of it completely?

Imagine it was in ear shot of your kids but your DH and his family see nothing wrong in speaking to each other like this.

I would ask my DH to show his Mother some respect and I would explain how 'we' don't use words like that now do we?

DP called his mum something along the lines of a dirty whore at christmas... it was something like that but slightly different wording. I choked on what I was eating (but didn't say anything as there were no dc's around and quite frankly I was in shock). They both have very respectable jobs/are what I'd have thought were respectable people. She just didn't even bother looking at him and shot 'twat' straight back

I'd slap him with a length of 2x4 but then I hate words like that with a passion but maybe that's because I had a sister who would have had that word used against her had she lived.
