to think that a BBC2 trail suggesting 'however good you are you're never as good as the mountain'...

Well, of course it is true. But if I had been in some way connected to those people, I think I'd have been deeply upset by it.

well yes, I would assume their mothers would know that climbing mountains is dangerous and can result in an accident.

It is true, but then I don't get why people go climbing mountains!They are far better from the bottom looking up, especially if in a car with a flask of tea.

I misread that as "however good you are you're never as good as a mountain", and having not seen the trail didn't realise it was about climbing.

Was thinking that it was a bit cryptic/philosophical.

No matter how well I bring up DD, I'm never as good as a mountain...

I prefer my interpretation I think!

Well to be fair I prefer walking as I probably am not in fact as mad as some (honest!). An ex tried to get me into more climbing, but these days can't get time to do more than a potter up Cheviot a couple of times a year .

What do I get out of it? Exercise, fresh air, views, plus a mental challenge, a feeling of having succeded. And sometimes sheer, naked terror
