...is a touch inappropriate on the night that 3 climbers died in an avalanche?

OP posts:
saint2shoes · 24/01/2009 22:02

or is it true?

WilfSell · 24/01/2009 22:07

Well, of course it is true. But if I had been in some way connected to those people, I think I'd have been deeply upset by it.

OP posts:
FairyMum · 24/01/2009 22:08

But it is true and climbers know that too.

WilfSell · 24/01/2009 22:09

But do their mothers?

OP posts:
saint2shoes · 24/01/2009 22:21

well yes, I would assume their mothers would know that climbing mountains is dangerous and can result in an accident.

saint2shoes · 24/01/2009 22:22

(don't get me wrong, I do get the point you are making)

Marthasmama · 24/01/2009 22:24

Depends what at. I'm quite good at singing. Bet I'm better at that than the mountain.

girlylala0807 · 25/01/2009 12:25

3 climbers that were told to stay well clear of that mountain...

SaltireOShanter · 25/01/2009 12:45

It is true, but then I don't get why people go climbing mountains! They are far better from the bottom looking up, especially if in a car with a flask of tea.

squeaver · 25/01/2009 12:49

People who climb mountains are all unhinged.

2Happy · 25/01/2009 12:53

I take exception to that comment!!

....oh no wait...

... I am unhinged...

As you were!

SaltireOShanter · 25/01/2009 13:00

2happy - so what do you get out if it. Serious question, I just don't see whats thrilling about it!

tumtumtetum · 25/01/2009 13:00

I misread that as "however good you are you're never as good as a mountain", and having not seen the trail didn't realise it was about climbing.

Was thinking that it was a bit cryptic/philosophical.

No matter how well I bring up DD, I'm never as good as a mountain...

No matter how hard I study, I'm never as good as a mountain...

I prefer my interpretation I think!

2Happy · 25/01/2009 13:05

Well to be fair I prefer walking as I probably am not in fact as mad as some (honest!). An ex tried to get me into more climbing, but these days can't get time to do more than a potter up Cheviot a couple of times a year .

What do I get out of it? Exercise, fresh air, views, plus a mental challenge, a feeling of having succeded. And sometimes sheer, naked terror
