To have just witnessed a spectacularly historical event, but to be thinking...

...Phwoar, I'd let that Obama give me one?

I feel terrible. I'm meant to be mature, educated, a good role model for my daughter, and the entire time he was speaking my over-riding urge was to tell Bloke, 'Ooh, I would'.

Ffreckle will be cruising watching the news channels for the rest of the evening...

He is just so clever and actually believes in social justice and hopefully not just diatrite (sp? proper use of big word; I have no idea, I just hope he is reading this and think ahhh Noonki if only I hadn't met Michelle....)

mooseloose · 20/01/2009 20:28

I wondered that about his speech too.

He has lovely arms too. I do like arms ........

Ponders · 20/01/2009 20:32

He has 2 teleprompters, 1 each side, that's why he keeps turning his head (they are sort of glass things on a stick so unless you're looking for them you don't see them)

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/01/2009 20:34

Definately a FILF

(a Father I would Like to ...)

..and brainy to

Altogether very hypnotic

mygreatauntgriselda · 20/01/2009 20:35

...oh yes and believes in social justice

(ahem)

DumbledoresGirl · 20/01/2009 20:44

Oh well spotted Ponders. I guessed he must have 2 teleprompters as he kept looking in 2 places, and I know what they look like, but in the long shots of him, I could not see them.

Ponders · 20/01/2009 20:53

Well they are practically invisible, DG

If you google "Obama teleprompters" you will find all sorts of anecdotal (& some youtube) evidence of how he can't orate without them (but it has to be said he does an excellent job with - unlike George W!)

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 20:55

I'm with you.

kayzr · 20/01/2009 20:56

Oh yes, he is lovely. He definitely has 'it'

Deemented · 20/01/2009 20:59

Reading this thread has made me wonder just how many Americans voted for him because he was easy on the eye, rather then because they liked his politics...

beeny · 20/01/2009 21:02

I fancy him.Im so pathetic

FfreckleFface · 20/01/2009 21:49

Not pathetic at all, beeny. Do you think he'd let the power go to his head (so to speak ) and be all masterful in bed? This is the thought behind most of my rugby player and Gordon Ramsay type fantasies...I do like to be told what to do, you see. (Aware that is TMI...off to blush in private now.)

Sorry to rain on the parade - I would too, but how on earth did they manage to mess up the inauguration pledge? They must've rehearsed it.

It looks ok in the news clips, but watching it live was embarrassing.

And I thought Aretha Franklin murdered whatever she was singing.

LackaDAISYcal · 20/01/2009 22:14

Can't see the appeal myself

He's all teeth and his eyes disappear when he smiles.

elportodelgato · 20/01/2009 22:20

ooh yes, am in agreement with the majority here - what a hottie.
did anyone else see obamagirl on youtube back in 2007 when his chances of winning looked really slim? we are SO not the first ones to notice his appeal...

Wizzska · 21/01/2009 10:32

Funny, I was thinking the very same this morning. But I turned him down in my sad fantasy, because I didn't want to be a Lewinsky his Presidency was more important. How sad am I?

Kimi · 21/01/2009 10:46

Tut tut tut

DS1 and DS2 cracked me up...
DS1 He is not black he is bi race
DS2 Does he sleep with men?
DS1 No bi race black dad white mum
DS2 well he the most black one yet....

Should point out DS2 is only 8

mygreatauntgriselda · 21/01/2009 11:22

Kimi am impressed by your DS's awareness!!

Freckle - looking at the bodylanguage between him and Mrs O, I would say she deffo tells him what to do in that department.

I'd like to have the chance to boss him around a bit [snigger]

bellabelly · 21/01/2009 11:25

He does put Gordon Brown to shame, doesn't he? Obama was even Heat magazine's torso of the week

Kimi · 21/01/2009 11:31

I still think his name should be Jeff, he looks like a Jeff

AmIOdetteOrOdile · 21/01/2009 11:31

So am I the only one who thought he sounded like a mad preacher then? He is undoubtedly a good orator, but I could not get John Culshaw's "Let's get ready to rumble" skit out of my head.

Kimi · 21/01/2009 11:43

I was in the States at he end of last year, and there is a sense of real excitement and a feeling that as promised change is going to come.

One of the people I got to know there who was himself an African American said the biggest problem is going to be keeping Obama alive to bring the change.

Most Americans seem to know that he is not a quick fix and he will need at least two terms to sort out the bloody mess that the USA are in. I think he has a huge job ahead of him and he knows it.
He has good politics and once everyone gets past the whole "first black president" thing (yes it is history but he is not there cause he is black, at least I hope he is not) the man is a leader, he is bright, he sees where the problems are and he has a outline plan of how to slowly start sorting them out.

I think he might just might start to put the USA back on track, and I wish him well as he has taken on one hell of a challenge.

Does have good buns though
