I have a really good, and really beautiful best friend...she is stunning, blonde, gorgeous, slim...lets call her Tallullah (although her name is Kerry)

She is, of course as tends to be the case, unhappy with what everyone else perceives to be near perfection.

We are on the same small emailing list, of our friends, it just makes chatting to get through the day easier...

Today I told the girls that I am half a pound off having lost 6 stone - I'm on a very very strict diet, I have a lot of weight to lose and my girls have supported me amazingly. Last night at my weigh in I discovered that I am half a pound away from having lost 6 stone, and that half pound is really rankling me.....you know, I feel if I had just done my exercise dvd one more time, or worn less heavy underwear or something...

Anyway...as usual, my girls have been brilliantly supportive.....but then up jumps Miss Perfection to say that she has now lost some weight and she is really pleased with herself...

Which is brilliant - as I say, I'm very good friends with her and when she is happy I'm happy...but she was already gorgeous....I'm not gorgeous at all....I'm sure she isn't intentionally thunderstealing though...

OMG 6 stone - thats fan bloody tastic

WELL DONE!!

Bathsheba · 20/01/2009 20:20

Thanks everyone....

I've got my thunder back a bit (I've changed my facebook status so I can have some thunder there, and I have some thunder here, so I'm still thundering...)

I think I've just had a very down day today - my 5 year old is ill, so not only am I a bit concerned (she is very chesty) but I'm tired AND cabin fever-y...

I've had a shower, put on my jammies, and I promise to be back and thundering again tomorrow..

(And I've lost a stone more than the combined weight of my children. I have a 2 stone 2 year old and a 3 stone 5 year old, so I have 5 stone worth of children - I can't pick them up together never mind walk around carrying them all day...)

Well done you on your weightloss!

Sounds like a classic case of rivalry amongst friends though, whether or not she'd actually acknowledge it

TheLorax · 20/01/2009 21:26

Hope you dont mind me being nosey - feel free to tell me to feck off, but how low calorie?

You have inspiered (ive tried to spell that 3 times i give up) me to start trying. I also have somewhere near that to lose!

Bathsheba · 21/01/2009 07:57

Hi hannahlouhoo - Its a medically controlled Very low Calorie Diet - its about 580 calories a day - done through complete food replacement (imagine 4 slim fast style shakes or soups a day and nothing else)...

well done! six stone is amazing!!

don't be too hard on your friend after all she's been supporting and hearing about your weight loss for over 6 months now!

are you at your target weight or have you more to lose?? keep it up!

pamelat · 21/01/2009 10:11

She might be deluded about herself?

I put weight on with DD (who doesn't) and my none baby friends moan about putting "3lbs on over Christmas and feeling like a whale" in front of me.

They only see faults in themselves. They are not trying to make me feel bad. They genuinely believe that I look ok and they look obese. My DH just says that their weight moaning and general lack of reality is very unattractive and that he is happy that I have different priorities (don't get me wrong, I am slim but not as slim as I was and I don't care)

However, its sad that it has made you feel bad. It shouldn't. Well done on the weight loss

Divineintervention · 21/01/2009 12:27

you've lost a whole Posh!

MrsMagooo · 21/01/2009 13:00

WOW @ your amazing weight loss Bath that is fab - well done you!

I can understand you feeling like your thunder has been stolen...I had a good weight loss last week & my mother phoned up to say "well done" but actually proceeded to waffle on about she really needs to loose weight etc etc (she's a size 12 & has had 7 children FGS!) - she can't bear to think of being thin(er) then I am now!

Anyway....I think a lot of the time when some people say 'Oh I've lost X amount' or go on about how they need to lose weight when you're talking about your own weight loss is because they can feel insecure about themselves & want to feel accepted in a way or like people wonlt consider them beautiful/thin/nice whatever anymore when they're friend/daughter/sister is thinner or as thin as them IYKWIM??

Not sure I've actually made any sense what so ever
