...to want someone to say 'well done' to me for driving...

...from York to Leicester? On my own? Considering I had never driven on a motorway before yesterday and was miles out of my comfort zone?

I keep mentioning in passing to people at work that I DROVE down today instead of getting the train but no-one seems very impressed

Yes Kathy - it is a definite bonus to be able to find your way OUT of Leicester too .

BouncingTartan · 19/01/2009 17:49

Well done... though I drove myself from Sheffield to Basildon in Essex 5 days after taking delivery of my first car

But I know what you mean about the sense of accomplishment - so you deserve a big pat on the back!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 19/01/2009 17:52

Goingonforty - I haven't done that yet. Am still here. (driving round and round the ring road, MNing from my blackberry, obviously )

BouncingTartan - that's good going. The first time I tried to learn was in Chelmsford and after my experience of Essex drivers I don't think I would be brave enough to go to Basildon.

No, YANBU. Driving is scary and I can remember feeling incredibly nervous (physically shaking actually) when I had to go out about in a hilly city in my old Ford Fiesta.

So, well done!

Congratulations.

I've been driving for years and am very confident, but even I was pleased with myself for coping outside my comfort zone (unlit and practically deserted motorway at night in freezing fog). It felt like being in a horror movie, I was expecting zombies to wander in front of the car at any minute.

MUMDONEGOOD · 19/01/2009 18:06

Well done. Thats really impressive. Driving is a nightmare anyway. Well done again.

Well done

I passed my test in November and have been known to send DH a picture message when I'm particularly proud of how I've parked

bollockbrain · 19/01/2009 18:41

very impressed, well done you!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 20/01/2009 08:04

Thanks again everyone [wipes away tear in manner of Gwyneth Paltrow]

MegBusset that's BRILLIANT! I'm going to start doing this.

Also maybe I'll get random tourists to take photos of me in front of my car at Tibshelf Services etc.
