Really boring one sorry, but I'm genuinely not sure what to do!

DD1 has chicken pox, she's at the blister stage so very contagious. DD2 meanwhile is absolutely fine, no temperature, no spots nothing....would you send her to nursery or not?

Thanks

Yes, she might not even get it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2009 20:46

Yes! Otherwise she might be confined to home for up to 3 weeks and still not catch it!

Thankyou....I feel the same but am worried about negative reactions from other Mums/nursery manager etc...

Feel better now!

I kept my ds off when my dd had them and the nursery teacher rang and told me to fetch him in .

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2009 21:02

good - don't worry about other Mums, they will prob find themselves in a similar dilemma one day!

naturalbornmum · 18/01/2009 21:09

Yes I would send her, no reason not to.

mawbroon · 18/01/2009 21:21

Send her. My ds spent a whole day with a mindee who developed chickenpox 2 days later, so had been extremely contagious on the day he was with ds.

I spent three weeks looking for spots on ds but he didn't actually catch chickenpox.

rookiemater · 18/01/2009 21:25

Oh gosh yes send her. If I kept DS off any time he might potentially be contagious I would be out of a job by now.

tiggerlovestobounce · 18/01/2009 21:27

My nursery were happy for me to take DD3 in when DD2 had chicken pox. She didnt even catch it.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 18/01/2009 21:32

Yes, no reason to keep her off imo

Ds has been close to loads of people with CP and has never managed to catch it (though he did get a horrible related hip condition!)

So yes, if she has no symptoms you should send her.

hellymelly · 18/01/2009 21:58

well my dd2 took three weeks to show symptoms after dd1 came down with it so that is a long time to keep a child at home.I did warn people who might be bothered by it that she could be contagious though as we knew a few adults who have not had it and one of those kept away.you might find she has a worse dose as apparently prolonged exposure can make it more severe.
