To have wanted to make a complaint?

I was in Asda this morning and the till I went to only had one woman in front of me who I noticed had just finished packing and was about to pay for her items.

So I put all my stuff on the belt and wait for her to finish. Only, when she'd finished paying she and the till woman began to have a long conversation about something else entirely.

They went on and on, until the till woman looked at me and then literally turned her back and carried on with the conversation! I was stood there like an idiot.

WOuld you have said something or just waited patiently?

I'd have waited, but been annoyed.

It's fine to want to make a complaint, but you should have dealt with it at the time, and would therefore be unreasonable to actually make a complaint.

I'd have said "Once you have finished your conversation, could you serve me and let me know where I can get an application form. I would just love to have a job where you get paid to gossip with your mates"

I would have said something like, sorry ladies - I am in a bit of a hurry here - and smiled nicely, then watched their response to see what to do next, if anything.

Hassled · 17/01/2009 15:53

I would have sighed and tutted and rolled my eyes, and been too cowardly to challenge her, but yes, it would have warranted at least an "Excuse me".

MommyHasaHeadache · 17/01/2009 15:58

I would have done the same as BoffinMum.

SSSSBTSS, if you had said that to me, I'd have probably turned round and spat in your donuts

Sometimes a simple, 'Excuse me, I'm in a bit of a hurry' works just as well as aggression.

ladymariner · 17/01/2009 16:08

I'd have done the same as Boffin, and then if they were shirty I'd have maybe made a complaint. Depends how rude they were!

ihatethecold · 18/01/2009 11:12

jesus geepers. wouldnt want to get served by you.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 18/01/2009 11:49

you should have said something at the time. Complain if you like but it was a bit wet to stand there and avoid confronting the checkout person there and then, but to write a complaint later. Minor rudeness should be dealt with at the time if possible, otherwise it becomes bigger than it needs to be.

I would have walked away leaving all the shopping on the belt and gone to get my food elsewhere after making a complaint at the customer service desk on the way out.

NotPlayingAnyMore · 18/01/2009 13:07

I've have leaned over and started swiping my shopping myself

duchesse · 18/01/2009 13:09

I would have been seething. How long was this conversation? Nonetheless, I'm sure it could have happened during her time with the cashier rather than during your time.
