To leave DS in nursery until 5 rather than picking him up early and taking him for a haircut as I had planned?

I'm waiting for a phonecall about a big job. I'm making good progress on another project I'm doing (so I'm telling myself) and I just can't face the salon 'chat'. I'm not in the mood.

Please tell me it can wait until the weekend and I am not a bad selfish mother.

It will wait! Get on with what you were doing!

BonsoirAnna · 14/01/2009 15:06

It can wait . I completely agree that you need to be in the right mood to cope with the hairdresser.

spicemonster · 14/01/2009 15:08

Only if you tell me where you take him as I haven't got a clue where to get children's hair cut round here!

YANBU - it can wait

At my regular hairdresser! They don't do it normally but do it for me as I know them. I've taken him to barbers before and recoiled as they pulled out the clippers and asked me what grade.

I need to find a decent hairdresser for my boy. He has surfer dude blonde hair and am dreading taking him incase he ends up looking like a total geekboy.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 14/01/2009 15:11

Yes Anna, I am filled with dread thinking about the smeels of 'product' the house music they pump out and the inane chat. I'm feeling quite the hermit today.

Oh and can't be arsed to put on enough makeup to not look bloody awful when I catch my reflection in the evil mirrors.

My DS has surer dude hair too! It's very blonde (who knows how as me and ex are brunettes) and slightly wavy with a cowlick that makes it quiff. It looks rather cool when quite long but it's getting in his eyes when he goes swimming so time to be sensible.

Oh god yes they mirrors That's nailed it, don't go .

I always look bloody awful in them. They show EVERY line and wrinkle. I'm sure I don't look that foul in real life... or maybe I do?

TheInnocentBystander · 14/01/2009 15:17

What do you ask them to do when he goes? I have took my boy twice. I have told them he likes the long surfer look, just a trim please but he ends up looking dead square. Do I need to say something else to get the right surfery look for him. He was gutted last time.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 14/01/2009 15:19

I once had my hair done in Barcelona and I swear they had clever mirrors and lighting as I looked a stone lighter and bloody gorgeous.

It makes me wonder why they need such harsh lighting and trick 'make you fatter and wrinklier and washed out' mirrors in most places.

I ask them to keep it long on top , especially his fringe area , quite long at the back too and then short around the ears and neck. hard to explain but so he still has the waves but it doesn't look messy and overgrown.
